Which German state is the favorite among tourists? We will show you the top 3 federal states of the total 16! Each of them has a unique character: from the coast in Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to the Alps in Bavaria. This is the most important season for the farmers, because it’s the harvest time for them. The hardy qingke barley, also known as highland barley, has long been the main crop on the plateau, and has become a staple of the Tibetan diet, used in almost every meal as tsampa, and even used to make barley wine and a number of other dishes. A unique, drought-resistant crop, barley is grown in many places across the plateau, and is the only grain crop that can grow comfortably in the higher reaches of the plateau, including the extreme north.
Innsbruck, capital of Austria’s western state of Tyrol, is a city in the Alps that’s long been a destination for winter sports. Innsbruck is also known for its Imperial and modern architecture. The Nordkette funicular, with futuristic stations designed by architect Zaha Hadid, climbs up to 2,256m from the city center for skiing in winter and hiking or mountaineering in warmer months.
Málaga is a port city on southern Spain’s Costa del Sol, known for its high-rise hotels and resorts jutting up from yellow-sand beaches. Looming over that modern skyline are the city’s 2 massive hilltop citadels, the Alcazaba and ruined Gibralfaro, remnants of Moorish rule. The city’s soaring Renaissance cathedral is nicknamed La Manquita (“one-armed lady”) because one of its towers was curiously left unbuilt.
The deep blue Lake Thun is the largest lake in the Bernese Oberland entirely located in the Canton of Bern. It offers views of green meadows, forests, the typical alps as well as the eternally white peaks of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau beyond. During the summer months and between Christmas and New Year, the steamship Blümlisalp clatters and puffs its way across the clear blue waters of Lake Thun in the middle of this landscape. Your trip on Lake Thus can start at any jetty round Lake Thun. Select the boat trip on Lake Thun that most appeals in terms of departure time or itinerary. Trips leave from Interlaken West and proceed along the Neuhaus nature reserve, on towards the St. Beatus Caves and Beatenbucht, to Spiez, Gunten, Oberhofen, Hilterfingen, Hünibach and then ultimately on to Thun. The entire trip from Interlaken to Thun takes around two hours and 10 minutes.
