Culinary Travel: ‘Street Food’ In Dubai, UAE (Video)

Dubai is a city and emirate in the United Arab Emirates known for luxury shopping, ultramodern architecture and a lively nightlife scene. Burj Khalifa, an 830m-tall tower, dominates the skyscraper-filled skyline. At its foot lies Dubai Fountain, with jets and lights choreographed to music. On artificial islands just offshore is Atlantis, The Palm, a resort with water and marine-animal parks.

This is our 2nd video from our STREET FOOD in DUBAI series. This time we are taking you to some of the BEST local restaurants and street foods that Dubai has to offer! We are starting the day with a delicious Egyptian hummus with beef and pine nuts and specialty foul (fava beans) at a shop called Foul w Hummus. They serve unlimited bread and a dish of pickles with the dishes. This restaurant has amazing quality food for a good price. Those that can’t afford the food can eat for free. After breakfast, we visited the Public Beach. It is a great place to view the Burj Al Arab, but also locals and tourists visit to swim, surf and enjoy the weather. It was especially nice in December, where it wasn’t too hot. For lunch, we visited a famous restaurant for seafood. Bu Qtair specialized in fish and prawns. The fresh fish and prawns are marinated in a mixture of spices and then are fried. They are served with rice and a curry. Next, we head to the Burj Khalifa (tallest building in the world) which is one of Dubai’s top attraction. The Burj Khalifa has unobstructed views over Dubai, but is quite expensive to enter. We recommend seeing it from the base, which is free and equally awesome. For dinner, we head to a restaurant which has a reputation for having the BEST Pakistani food in Dubai, Ravi Restaurant. There are many dishes to try, but we chose to try their dal fry, mutton Peshawari and chicken tikka. The naan served with the meal was DELICIOUS! Finally for dessert, we wanted to try an Emirati specialty – luqaimat. Luqaimat are small balls of dough which are fried until golden brown. You can get a variety of toppings, but the traditional topping is a thick date syrup and sesame seeds. These are served across the UAE, but we visited the shop in Global Village. This isn’t the most authentic version, but it was interesting to watch the women make this dessert.

Taiwanese Street Food – 台灣街頭美食 / Night Market, New Taipei City, Taiwan.

Taiwan probably has the best night market scene in the world and some of the most exciting street food in Asia. With little space at home to cook, the Taiwanese prefer to head out almost every night to the heaving markets for the cheap snacks – or xiaochi – that are found across the island – on corners, in clusters of food-devoted streets or at one of over 100 night markets. Those with no language skills simply stand in front of the stall, point to what they want and use their digits to say how many. Stallholders then write the price down, with dishes generally costing between 60p and £1.20. (From The Guardian)

New Taipei City is a special municipality and the most populous city in Taiwan. Located in northern Taiwan, the city includes a substantial stretch of the island’s northern coastline and surrounds the Taipei Basin, making it the second largest special municipality by area, behind Kaohsiung.

Travel Video: Street Food And Hot Air Ballooning In Cappadocia, Turkey (2020)

Hello again from TURKEY! This is our last STREET FOOD IN TURKEY video from the series, and we had an AMAZING time here. Today, we are showing you the BEST Turkish food Cappadocia has to offer and also bring you on a hot air ballon flight, and take you to Göreme National Park for breathtaking views over this crazy place.

We are starting early in the morning for a hot air balloon flight with Voyager Balloons. We took their Ultra Comfort Flight (75 mins/8 people max.) and our pilot Ali was knowledgable, fun and kept us up to date with how high we were flying. The flight was SO smooth, the sunrise was gorgeous and it was a UNIQUE experience! We highly recommend Voyager Balloons!

After our flight, we were HUNGRY and ready to eat CAPPADOCIA FOOD. The local specialties are Mantı (Turkish dumplings) and Testi kebab (pottery kebab). The mantı were stuffed with beef, covered in a sour yogurt sauce and chili oil. Traditionally mantı are made to be extremely small. The testi kebab was sealed in a pottery vessel and lit on fire. The restaurant owner then cracks it open and pours out the DELICIOUS stew.

Beef, onions, tomatoes and tons of spices make up this dish. We tried testi kebab in other tourist restaurants in Cappadocia and it was terrible. YOU MUST check out THIS restaurant – the kebab was flavourful, the portion was large and service was very friendly! Next, we visit and explore the national park to see the fairy chimneys up close. It was a beautiful sight to see these landscapes. Before heading to our “cave room”, we stopped to pick up another local specialty – CAPPADOCIA WINE! Cappadocia is famous for their endemic grapes and the caves allow wine to be stored in ideal conditions, so the wine here is fantastic. We picked up a Kalecik Karası and enjoyed a glass from our private terrace of our cave room.

Top Street Food: ‘Crunchy Takoyaki’ In Osaka, Japan

Takoyaki (たこ焼き or 蛸焼) a ball-shaped Japanese snack originating from Osaka – made of a wheat flour-based batter, filled with diced octopus (tako), tempura scraps (tenkasu), pickled ginger (beni shoga), and green onion (negi). Takoyaki balls are brushed with takoyaki sauce (similar to Worcestershire sauce) and mayonnaise, sprinkled with green laver (aonori) and shavings of dried bonito (katsuobushi).

Food & Travel: How Barese Focaccia Bread Is Made

Breaking away from the more well-known olive oil seasoned flatbread, focaccia in Bari, Italy is a feast of flavors made with tomatoes, olives, oregano, and olive oil. We visited Panificio Fiore, a local bakery that’s been churning fresh focaccia every day for over a century. The bakery is just a few steps away from the city’s Basilica di San Nicola, an important destination for pilgrims all over the world. For those foodies exploring the old town on another kind of pilgrimage, a slice of focaccia here will cost only 1 euro and will for sure open the doors of heaven.

Travel & Food: Christmas Market In Berlin, Germany

Christmas is unfortunately different this year. Annual tradition of Christmas Market is officially not taking place. However, in Berlin, there are some food stands selling typical christmas street foods. It is called Christmas Market “to-go” where you can get the foods/drinks to go. Nevertheless, it gives us opportunity to taste Christmas Street Foods. And by the way, the foods are great!

From wandering between Tateyama’s Snow Wall to spending a night in a Koyasan temple, we take you through Japan’s travel spectrum showing the best food places, architecture, sights, thrills, and shopping experiences.

Food – Dotonbori District: The Dotonbori district is the most colorful area in Osaka. When visiting you must try takoyaki and okonomiyaki. Shin-Yokohama Raumen Museum: Taste nine different types of ramen at the world’s first food-themed amusement park.

Architecture – Koyasan: Temples and shrines can be found all throughout Japan. Tourists can experience Buddhist lifestyle through traditional practices by spending a night in a Koyasan temple. Reversible Destiny Lofts: The space is meant to challenge your mind and body to interact with your living space in a new way to allow new possibilities daily. It is made up of only three shapes. Shirakawa-go Village: Declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1995 for its gassho-zukuri houses, the thatched roofs without nails are symbolic of hands pressed together in prayer.

Sights – Tateyama Snow Wall: The Snow Corridor of Tateyama rises up to 65 feet. Bonin Islands: During the second world war, the islands were used as military bases, so if you enjoy diving, you are likely to see many shipwrecks. Nagano’s Jigokudani Monkey Park: In Nagano’s Jigokudani Monkey Park there are no barriers. These monkeys are the only ones in the world that enjoy bathing in hot springs.

Thrills – Hokkaido: Hokkaido has light, powdery snow perfect for snowboarding or skiing in the winter. Yonaguni: Nevertheless, the Yonaguni monument requires a 9 to 52 foot dive to reach the bottom, and it is recommended that you have at least 100 hours of logged diving experience.

Shopping – Kanazawa: This city is most famous for its teahouses and geisha and samurai districts, along with its gold leaf production. Akihabara: Akihabara, also known as Electric Town, is a hub for all things electronics, game paraphernalia, anime, and manga. Canal City: Called a city within a city, Canal City is a large shopping mall and entertainment center in Fukuoka.
