New Travel Video: ‘Iceland – The Frozen Kingdom’

I shot this in february of 2020 in Iceland, just before the pandemic started. We were on a job, but managed to get some time to shoot a bit for ourselves as well. We had planned 3 days of roadtripping in Iceland after the job, but we got hit by a snowstorm and got trapped in Seyðisfjörður for 3 days. When we finally got out and took a place back to Reykjavik, we only had a bit over 24 hours before we had to head home again. We got really lucky and experienced everything from heavy snowfall at Skógafoss to a beautiful sunset by the coast at Vik. It is not a lie when Icelanders say: “If you don’t like the weather in Iceland, just wait five minutes”.

We take you to discover the coastline of the French region of Brittany and its gems of natural beauty. With its 70-metre-high cliffs, the Cap Fréhel has some of the most dramatic scenery in the region. Further west, there are spectacular views over the Morlaix Bay, home to more than 60,000 seabirds. Out in the Atlantic, Ouessant is the last island before America. We end our journey at sunset at the Raz peninsula, looking out onto the Atlantic, at the tip of Europe.

Impressive and colourful landscapes, the scent of the moorlands, crashing waves and the call of seabirds: open your eyes, nostrils and ears! Looming above an emerald sea, the pink sandstone cliffs of the Cap d’Erquy headland are crowned by wild moorlands where the colours are ever-changing. The dazzling yellow of gorse flowers in spring is followed by violet heathers in summer. This nature reserve is home to a variety of plant species and is a haven for seabirds. Erquy is also a fishing-port, known for its scallops. Not far away, the majestic cliffs of Cap Fréhel provide one of the best views in Brittany. On a clear day, you can enjoy a panoramic view that stretches from the Cotentin Peninsula and Jersey all the way to Paimpol: it’s mind-blowing!

Travel & Adventure Trips: “Glasgow To Isle Of Skye By Kayak” – ‘Spectacular’

THE GUARDIAN (David Gange, Aug 23, 2020): The journey can be done by several means, in trips of 10 days, two weeks or more. Experienced sea kayakers can tackle the whole route by water and sleep each night beside their boat, embracing in full Adam and Dunnett’s desire “to test the zest of physical living that town life denies us”. Non-kayakers can cycle between notable sites and stay in holiday accommodation along the route.

A first day’s journey moves from the mouth of the Clyde to the Isle of Bute. I’d plan to buy provisions at Helmi’s in the village of Rothesay: a glorious bakery founded by the island’s community of Syrian refugees. The next day doesn’t take the obvious route south round Arran, but turns north to “Britain’s most beautiful shortcut”.

The Crinan Canal bisects the Kintyre peninsula and ends among beautiful, wildlife-rich woodland at the picturesque village of Crinan. (If you’re travelling by road but would like to experience a little boating, this is the place to cover the gentlest nine miles of Adam and Dunnett’s journey.) From Crinan, a third day moves through the atmospheric Slate Islands. Timing tides well should mean there’s little need to paddle, as great salt rivers flush a kayak through remains of important industries that blend perfectly into dramatic seascapes.
