Travel: ‘Dolomites – South Tyrol’, North Italy (Video)

Filmed and Edited by: Markus Römischer

This was my 10-Days roadtrip to the Dolomites in South Tyrol. We started our trip from Mannheim, Germany and drove via Austria to Italy.

South Tyrol, or Alto Adige, is a province in northeast Italy. It includes part of the Dolomites range, with limestone summits like the Three Peaks of Lavaredo. Pragser Wildsee lake (Lago di Braies) sits in a valley crossed by paths, including one leading to the Plätzwiese (Prato Piazza) high plateau. The ski resort of Kronplatz (Plan de Corones) has trails and slopes, plus a cable car to the top of Mount Kronplatz.

Views: A Quick Road Trip Down ‘U.S. Route 66’ (Video)

U.S. Highway 66 — popularly known as Route 66 or the Mother Road — holds a special place in American consciousness and evokes images of simpler times, mom and pop businesses, and the icons of a mobile nation on the road. Discover this shared heritage through the historic places that recall those images and experiences that are reminders of our past and evidence of the influence of the automobile.

Driving Historic Route 66

The romance of Route 66 continues to captivate people around the world. Running between Chicago and Los Angeles, “over two thousand miles all the way” in the words of the popular R&B anthem, this legendary old road passes through the heart of the United States on a diagonal trip that takes in some of the country’s most archetypal roadside scenes. If you’re looking for great displays of neon signs, rusty middle-of-nowhere truck stops, or kitschy Americana, do as the song says and “get your kicks on Route 66.”

Nature: ‘Christmas Creek’ In Minnesota (Video)

Filmed and Edited by: Tim Johnson

I accidentally found this little creek that led peacefully out to a small lake near our home in Minnesota. I’ve driven by this spot dozens of times and never knew it was there. Very peaceful, and joy to try and capture with this frost and fresh snow.

Timelapse Travel: ‘Saint Petersburg, Russia’ (Video)

St. Petersburg is a Russian port city on the Baltic Sea. It was the imperial capital for 2 centuries, having been founded in 1703 by Peter the Great, subject of the city’s iconic “Bronze Horseman” statue. It remains Russia’s cultural center, with venues such as the Mariinsky Theatre hosting opera and ballet, and the State Russian Museum showcasing Russian art, from Orthodox icon paintings to Kandinsky works.

Walking Tours: ‘Hanoi City – Vietnam’ (4K UHD Video)

Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, is known for its centuries-old architecture and a rich culture with Southeast Asian, Chinese and French influences. At its heart is the chaotic Old Quarter, where the narrow streets are roughly arranged by trade. There are many little temples, including Bach Ma, honoring a legendary horse, plus Đồng Xuân Market, selling household goods and street food.

Wine Regions: Origins Of Barolo In Northern Italy

Silvia Donati |
Fri, 01/08/2021

Barolo is made from the Nebbiolo grape, or more precisely, from three sub-varieties of Nebbiolo, whose name recalls the fog (‘nebbia’ in Italian) that often envelopes the hills and valleys where it’s made at the time of the vendemmia.

Just eleven comuni (towns) are allowed to produce Barolo, all comprised within a small area in the province of Cuneo, to the east of the regional capital of Turin: La Morra, Barolo, Verduno, Castiglione Falletto, Monforte d’Alba, Serralunga, Novello, Roddi, Grinzano Cavour, Diano d’Alba and Cherasco.

Among Italy’s Unesco World Heritage Sites aren’t just artworks, castles, cities and monuments; there are also entire areas, such as the vineyard landscape of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato in the north-western region of Piedmont; this landscape constitute, according to Unesco, “an outstanding example of man’s interaction with his natural environment,” and an “outstanding living testimony to winegrowing and winemaking traditions that stem from a long history, and that have been continuously improved and adapted up to the present day.”

It is precisely in this area that one of the world’s greatest wines originated: Barolo

Marine Wildlife: ‘Elephant Seals’ On Beaches In San Simeon, California (Video)

“Sunday Morning” takes us to the beach at San Simeon, Calif., a home for elephant seals. Videographer: Lance Milbrand.

The northern elephant seal (Mirounga angustirostris) is one of two species of elephant seal (the other is the southern elephant seal). It is a member of the family Phocidae (true seals). Elephant seals derive their name from their great size and from the male’s large proboscis, which is used in making extraordinarily loud roaring noises, especially during the mating competition. Sexual dimorphism in size is great. Correspondingly, the mating system is highly polygynous; a successful male is able to impregnate up to 50 females in one season.

San Simeon is a town and census-designated place on the Pacific coast of San Luis Obispo County, California, United States. Its position along State Route 1 is about halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, each of those cities being roughly 230 miles away.
