Top RV Campsites: Piñon Flats Campground In Great Sand Dunes National Park, CO

From Fodors.com online:

Piñon Flats Campground“After a day sledding down the largest sand dunes in North America, Piñon Flats, a decidedly un-sandy campground protected by the shade of cottonwood and conifer, is where you want to be. The Great Sand Dunes National Park’s April-October seasonal campground has 88 individual sites and 15 group sites, all of which are framed by views of the dunes and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in the distance. All campsites require reservations and come complete with fire pits and picnic tables. Each loop of the campground has restrooms with flush toilets and potable water.”

Top RV Campsites: Fruita Campground In Capitol Reef National Park, Utah

Capitol Reef National Park“Capitol Reef National Park is known for its cliffs and canyons of red rock, which makes Fruita Campground something of an anomaly. Fed by the Fremont River, which rolls along the campground’s edge, Fruita is literally an oasis in the desert, surrounded by the cool, green shade of historic orchards. During the peak season, most of the 64-tent/RV sites and seven walk-in sites, complete with flushing toilets, running water, and fire pits or grills, can be reserved; during off-season they switch to a first-come first-serve system.”

Travel Technology: “Sonder.com” Offers Apartment-Style, Hotel-Like Service Rentals

From Forbes.com article by Biz Carson:

Sonder Boston Travel SiteDavidson’s (Sonder’s) vision starts with offering apartment-style units that provide the consistent service of a hotel—with tweaks such as smartphone-only check-in. Its properties are listed on Airbnb (as well as Booking and Expedia), so families, friends or business travelers can book. Only one third of guests are business travelers, Davidson says. The extra cash will help him achieve this vision of becoming the dominant brand and also keep it the largest in the space, where it competes with Airbnb-backed Lyric, plus Domio and StayAlfred, among others.

Top New Travel Videos: “USA – Ground Effect” By Michael Fletcher Celebrates Yosemite, Western National Parks

Filmed, Edited and Directed by: Michael Fletcher

“USA – Ground Effect” is a title I gave to this little edit I created from my last trip to the United States. I was hoping I could revisit my origins to create a somewhat pleasing landscape film which didn’t involve the use of a drone. Hence the name “Ground Effect”. I must admit I came close to chucking in a few beauties I captured with my drone but it would of meant not being faithful to what I was trying to achieve.

USA - Ground Effect Michael Fletcher

Drones have revolutionised the process of landscape videography and it has made it too easy to create stunning results even if you are new to shooting landscapes. As much as it’s an important tool to get the big wow! factor from the masses I reckon you cant beat a carefully composed shot from your actual stand point using a camera like the C300. In actual fact the way restrictions are going with drones there won’t be too many places left for you to shoot with a drone so my advice is to not forget the basics.
