Autoworld, “Treasury of the history of the automobile”
Autoworld is a private museum that rents its buildings from the community. Its passionate and experienced staff are committed to making Autoworld a leading location in both the automobile and events sector, that draws its legitimacy from its rich history.
The Mahy collection Autoworld was built on the extensive and well preserved car collection of the Mahy family, one of the largest in the world. Founder Ghislain Mahy (1907-1999) was a passionate mechanic from a young age and went on to restore dozens of cars throughout his life. Together with his sons Hans and Ivan, he built a collection of about 1000 vehicles, amongst which you can find many Belgian brands such as Minerva, Germain, FN, Imperia, Fondu, Vivinus, Nagant, Belga-Rise and Miesse. When the Autoworld museum was established in 1986, it incorporated 200 automobiles from the Mahy collection. The opening in 1986 While the passion and collection of the Mahy family forms the heart of the museum, it were the dedication and perseverance of late King Albert II, Minister Louis Olivier and Herman De Croo that ensured Autoworld officially came to life in 1986. The majestic esplanade, triumphal arch and colonnades of the Parc du Cinquantenaire proved to be the ideal location for the treasury of the automobile history. The main purpose of Autoworld was and remains to display decades of evolution in technology, comfort, safety and environment.

The Carrera Panamericana was a border-to-border sedan and sports car racing event on open roads in Mexico similar to the Mille Miglia and Targa Florio in Italy. Running for five consecutive years from 1950 to 1954, it was widely held by contemporaries to be the most dangerous race of any type in the world.

The tenth edition of Passione Engadina has come to an end, presenting an incredible parterre of vintage Italian cars all gathered in the splendid setting of St. Moritz and the Graubünden passes. For this edition, the guest of honour was Ferrari, thanks to the collaboration with Kessel. To celebrate the tenth edition together with Ronnie Kessel, sponsor since the first year, 30 sportscars were admitted to the race, with a separate classification. On the streets of St Moritz and the Engadin, in addition to rare and exceptionally beautiful classic cars, powerful Ferrari sportscars were on display, including two Monza SPs. One car that caught the attention of participants and passers-by was the Kimera EVO37, driven by Luca Betti (former Rally driver and Founder of Kimera Automobili). The public was also able to admire some unique pieces on display in front of the Kulm Hotel in St Moritz, the home of Passione Engadina: a Ferrari 512 M Prototype, a Ferrari 206 S, and a Ferrari 206 SP.
The new trailer for the landmark film noir starring Humphrey Bogart and directed by John Huston – back in cinemas UK-wide from 17 September to celebrate its 80th anniversary.
John Huston’s directorial debut, this year celebrating its 80th anniversary, turned Bogart into a major star. Adapted from Dashiell Hammett’s novel about a San Francisco detective’s investigations into the murder of his business partner, Huston’s snappily witty script retains the plot’s labyrinthine complexity while revelling in colourful characterisations of the villains Sam Spade encounters during his quest. Inspired casting includes Lorre as volatile Joel Cairo, Greenstreet as menacingly amiable Kasper Gutman, and Cook as his gunman. But it’s the fraught, febrile relationship between Bogart’s Spade and Mary Astor’s femme fatale – who persuaded his partner to take on her case – that shapes the deep, dark core of desire, doubt and duplicity pervading the film from beginning to memorable end.
Historic US Route 66—the Mother Road, also known as the Main Street of America—used to take drivers all the way from Chicago, Ill. to Santa Monica, Calif. along one continuous route.
Though its heyday is gone, travelers still find their way to Route 66, drawn by the history, nostalgia and places that dot its roadside. Arizona contains one of the longest remaining stretches of the original Route 66, extending across the state from Holbrook (east) to Kingman (west).
Journey with us as we meet some of the more unusual and famous people and places along the route, starting in Hackberry, 20 miles northeast of Kingman, and ending in Seligman, home of Angel Delgadillo, who helped lead the preservation of Route 66.
This 286 SP claims extreme rarity in the Ferrari lineage as one of just six SP racers originally built and one of only two examples originally equipped with the developmental Maranello eight-cylinder engine. Boasting associations with legendary drivers like Lorenzo Bandini, Harry Heuer, Olivier Gendebien, and Ricardo Rodriguez, chassis 0798 was an integral part of Ferrari’s sports prototype development and racing campaign, and it laid the foundational groundwork for the famed Ferrari P cars. It is also no doubt a cornerstone of the 1964 SCCA D Modified Championship. As such, 0798 has been extensively chronicled and photographed in numerous books and articles, including significant coverage in John Godfrey’s authoritative 1990 volume Ferrari Dino SPs as well as a multi-part feature in Cavallino.
