Women’s Health: ‘Google AI’ Partners With iCAD For Improved Mammograms

Alongside licensing our AI technology, iCAD will also use Google Cloud’s secure, scalable infrastructure, giving them the ability to rapidly expand cloud-hosted solutions into new regions. By doing so, iCAD can scale access to AI-based tools in underserved regions where infrastructure challenges may constrain their ability to offer breast cancer screenings.

Breast cancer is one of the world’s most common cancers; thankfully, early detection can help save lives and improve outcomes among many who develop the disease. At Google Health we’re developing AI to improve the accuracy and expand the availability of breast cancer screenings. Over time, better screenings will improve health outcomes and reduce disparities for people around the world.

Today, we’re announcing a partnership with iCAD, a leader in medical technology and cancer detection, marking the first time we are licensing our mammography AI research model. iCAD will work toward validating and incorporating our mammography AI technology with its products for use in clinical practices with the goal of improving breast cancer detection and assessment of short-term personal cancer risk for the more than two million people globally diagnosed with breast cancer every year.

Small Towns: Harmony In Central Coast California

But a short stroll through this village reveals a big heart and even bigger history just waiting to be explored. Harmony served as the capital of SLO CAL’s booming dairy industry for nearly five decades until the milk money dried up. Lots of folks moved away, but those who stayed decided to get creative.

Today, the town is a vibrant artist’s haven. Wander through the glassworks shop to find handblown pieces created right before your eyes or watch sculptors hard at work behind the potter’s wheel. Its quirky art and funky facades are a magnet for wander lusters. Check out Harmony’s famous chapel, part-time post office and gardens — all of which have become hotspots for weddings, picnics, and photo ops. 

This little town continues to grow in reputation. Take a short detour off Pacific Coast Highway and stop in to see all the enchanting renovations underway. You’ll find peaceful Harmony nestled between San Simeon’s Hearst Castle and Paso Robles‘ world-renowned wine region. Just keep your eyes peeled for the iconic population 18 sign.

Seaside Walks: Portofino, Liguria, Northwest Italy

Italy Together – Portofino is known for its colorfully painted buildings that line the shore. The town is clustered around its half-moon shaped harbor filled with summer yachts and odd fishing boats and lined with outlets of Gucci, Pucci, Hermès and Louis Vuitton, seafood restaurants, cafes and luxury hotels.

Portofino’s crystalline green waters are great for swimming, diving, and boating. There are also opportunities for hiking in the area.

CBS Sunday Morning – Correspondent David Pogue joins Titanic enthusiasts (nicknamed “Titaniacs”) who will happily pay a small fortune to ride in OceanGate’s specially-designed submersible vehicle, equipped with 4K video cameras, to visit the remains of the luxury liner 13,000 feet beneath the North Atlantic (weather conditions permitting).

RMS Titanic was a British passenger liner, operated by the White Star Line, which sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on 15 April 1912 after striking an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton, England, to New York City, United States.

Gagosian is pleased to announce Exodus, an exhibition of new work by Anselm Kiefer in New York and Los Angeles, opening on November 12 at 555 West 24th Street, New York, and on November 19 at Gagosian at Marciano Art Foundation, 4357 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles.

The large-scale paintings on view in New York and Los Angeles employ a wide range of materials including paint, terra-cotta, fabric, rope, wire, found objects, sediment of electrolysis, and metal—including copper and gold leaf. Mixing the abject and the exalted, these works are imbued with gesture, a sense of metamorphosis, and alchemical symbolism.

Kiefer’s syncretic approach to materials extends to his understanding of history, literature, and mythology as forces that inform the present. In this new body of work, he incorporates inscriptions in Hebrew from the book of Exodus, with thematic references to its narrative blended with a diversity of other sources. Full of symbolic thresholds between peoples, places, and times, the paintings are metaphysical allegories that meditate on loss and deliverance, dispossession and homecoming.

Paris Views: A Walk In The Ile de la Cité – Nov 2022

Lots of tourists swarm the main island in Paris, the Ile de la Cité, home of the Notre Dame Cathedral. But far too many overlook its delightful little sister, the quaint Ile Saint-Louis, which is just a few steps away in the Fourth Arrondissement.

This small island is like an oasis from the rush of the city. It’s almost as if someone dropped a small French village into the center of Paris. It contains everything you would want from your neighborhood: markets, bakeries, fromageries, and cafes. While much of Paris has modernized over the years, this island remains romantically frozen in the 17th century. It is remarkably the same as it was centuries ago.

The Ile Saint-Louis is connected to the rest of Paris by four bridges to both banks of the Seine River and to the Ile de la Cité by the Pont Saint-Louis.
