Travel: A Tour Of Angel Island, San Francisco (4K)

April 24, 2023: Angel Island State Park, the largest natural island in the San Francisco Bay, offers some of the best views of the surrounding Bay Area. With great hiking trails and many other recreational opportunities readily available, Angel Island is truly a hidden gem in the midst of the urban Bay Area. 

Beginning with the earliest inhabitants, the Coast Miwok, Angel Island was a seasonal hunting and gathering location for the local native tribes, a safe refuge and supply stop for Spanish explorers like Juan Manuel de Ayala, one of the first to map the San Francisco Bay.

From 1910 to 1940, the U.S. Immigration Station processed hundreds of thousands of immigrants, the majority from China. During World War II, Japanese, and German POWs were detained at the Station before being sent to facilities farther inland.

Travel: Krka Waterfalls In Southwest Croatia (4K)

Massimo Nalli (April 24, 2023) – The Krka Waterfalls are an impressive natural wonder protected as part of Krka National Park in Croatia. The Krka River runs through a series of seven naturally formed waterfalls, cascading over limestone and dolomite rocks.

The most famous of the Krka waterfalls is Skradinski Buk, with a height of 145 feet and width of almost 2,600 feet, making it one of the largest cascades in Europe. It has within 17 small waterfalls.

London Walking Tours (Uploaded April 22, 2023) – Tower of London, byname the Tower, royal fortress and London landmark. Its buildings and grounds served historically as a royal palace, a political prison, a place of execution, an arsenal, a royal mint, a menagerie, and a public records office.

It is located on the north bank of the River Thames, in the extreme western portion of the borough of Tower Hamlets, on the border with the central City of London.

Island Views: Hvar Town In Dalmatia Region, Croatia

Massimo Nalli (April 23, 2023) – Hvar is a town and port on the island of Hvar in Dalmatia. The town of Hvar has a long and distinguished history as center for trade and culture in the Adriatic.

A commune, part of the Venetian Empire during the 13th to 18th centuries, it was an important naval base with a strong fortress above, encircling the town walls and protecting the port. Cultural life thrived as prosperity grew, and Hvar is the site of one of the oldest surviving theatres in Europe, opened in 1612. The seven-hundred-year-old walls still survive, as do many of the noble houses and public buildings from 15th – 17th centuries.

The port of Hvar, set in a picturesque natural bay, is a safe haven for boats year round. Hvar Town is encircled on its land-side by protective walls, and overlooked by two massive fortresses set on the hills above. The fortifications were commissioned by the Venetians in 1278, to create a haven for their fleet, and have been expanded in the centuries since.

Mount Toubkalmountain peak that is the highest point (13,665 feet [4,165 metres]) in Morocco and in the Atlas Mountains. The peak is situated 40 miles (60 km) south of Marrakech in the High Atlas (Haut Atlas). Juniper forests covering the mountain’s higher slopes are succeeded by alpine meadows, whereas the lower slopes have been extensively overgrazed. 

Travel: France’s Most Beautiful Hiking Paths

FRANCE 24 (April 20, 2023) – Of the 370 long-distance hiking paths that criss-cross the French countryside, some in particular stand out. In Finistère, on the Atlantic, the Chemin du Pouldu merges with the Brittany coast. Its contrasts of green and blue have inspired many artists, such as French painter Paul Gauguin.

Down in the Cévennes, Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson gave his name to the Chemin Stevenson, where you can still come across donkeys. As for the route to Santiago de Compostela, one of the oldest long-distance hiking paths in France, it contains delights for the eyes and the soul.

Travel: A Walking Tour Of Verona In Northern Italy

Tourister (April 20, 2023) – The historic city of Verona was founded in the 1st century B.C. It particularly flourished under the rule of the Scaliger family in the 13th and 14th centuries and as part of the Republic of Venice from the 15th to 18th centuries. Verona has preserved a remarkable number of monuments from antiquity, the medieval and Renaissance periods, and represents an outstanding example of a military stronghold.

Travel Tour: The Island Of Marken, Netherlands (8K)

The Flying Dutchman (April 19, 2023) – The island of Marken has been inhabited since the thirteenth century. During this period, the island was owned by the Frisian monastery Mariëngaarde, who built dikes and a drainage system here. They also ensured that agriculture and livestock farming became possible here.

About a century later, the monks were expelled here by Count William the Fourth of Holland. After this, the island quickly impoverished, the islanders were forced to live on mounds to protect themselves against the water.

These mounds are known here as wharves, a number of these wharfs are still inhabited. The many floods made farming impossible and fishing became the island’s main source of income. This came to an end with the arrival of the Afsluitdijk.
