Culinary Travel: ‘Street Food In Oujda, Morocco’
The array of street food in Morocco is quite vast and includes tea time and breakfast sweets, simple snacks, sandwiches, soups, grilled meats and seafood, fried fish and hearty main dishes such as stewed lentils, rotisserie chicken and classic tagines. The recipes below are all foods that can found while walking Moroccan streets and souks.
Oujda is a city in northeast Morocco, near the Algerian border. It’s known for its Great Mosque, built in the late 13th century, with intricate carved wood and mosaic tiling. The mosque is in the old town, or medina, behind ramparts and the imposing Sidi Abdelouahab gate. Numerous shops and souks sell fruit, spices, jewelry and traditional clothing. The Art Gallery of Oujda shows modern and traditional Eastern art.
Morocco, a North African country bordering the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea, is distinguished by its Berber, Arabian and European cultural influences. Marrakesh’s medina, a mazelike medieval quarter, offers entertainment in its Djemaa el-Fna square and souks (marketplaces) selling ceramics, jewelry and metal lanterns. The capital Rabat’s Kasbah of the Udayas is a 12th-century royal fort overlooking the water.

Food & Travel: The Top ‘Street Food’ In New Taipei City, Taiwan (Video)
Taiwanese Street Food – 台灣街頭美食 / Night Market, New Taipei City, Taiwan.
Taiwan probably has the best night market scene in the world and some of the most exciting street food in Asia. With little space at home to cook, the Taiwanese prefer to head out almost every night to the heaving markets for the cheap snacks – or xiaochi – that are found across the island – on corners, in clusters of food-devoted streets or at one of over 100 night markets. Those with no language skills simply stand in front of the stall, point to what they want and use their digits to say how many. Stallholders then write the price down, with dishes generally costing between 60p and £1.20. (From The Guardian)
New Taipei City is a special municipality and the most populous city in Taiwan. Located in northern Taiwan, the city includes a substantial stretch of the island’s northern coastline and surrounds the Taipei Basin, making it the second largest special municipality by area, behind Kaohsiung.
Travel Video: Street Food And Hot Air Ballooning In Cappadocia, Turkey (2020)
Hello again from TURKEY! This is our last STREET FOOD IN TURKEY video from the series, and we had an AMAZING time here. Today, we are showing you the BEST Turkish food Cappadocia has to offer and also bring you on a hot air ballon flight, and take you to Göreme National Park for breathtaking views over this crazy place.
We are starting early in the morning for a hot air balloon flight with Voyager Balloons. We took their Ultra Comfort Flight (75 mins/8 people max.) and our pilot Ali was knowledgable, fun and kept us up to date with how high we were flying. The flight was SO smooth, the sunrise was gorgeous and it was a UNIQUE experience! We highly recommend Voyager Balloons!
After our flight, we were HUNGRY and ready to eat CAPPADOCIA FOOD. The local specialties are Mantı (Turkish dumplings) and Testi kebab (pottery kebab). The mantı were stuffed with beef, covered in a sour yogurt sauce and chili oil. Traditionally mantı are made to be extremely small. The testi kebab was sealed in a pottery vessel and lit on fire. The restaurant owner then cracks it open and pours out the DELICIOUS stew.
Beef, onions, tomatoes and tons of spices make up this dish. We tried testi kebab in other tourist restaurants in Cappadocia and it was terrible. YOU MUST check out THIS restaurant – the kebab was flavourful, the portion was large and service was very friendly! Next, we visit and explore the national park to see the fairy chimneys up close. It was a beautiful sight to see these landscapes. Before heading to our “cave room”, we stopped to pick up another local specialty – CAPPADOCIA WINE! Cappadocia is famous for their endemic grapes and the caves allow wine to be stored in ideal conditions, so the wine here is fantastic. We picked up a Kalecik Karası and enjoyed a glass from our private terrace of our cave room.

Culinary Travel: Street Food In Gaziantep, Turkey
Today we are in the food Mecca of GAZIANTEP, one of Turkey’s BEST food cities. We are exploring more Turkish street food of Gaziantep in this episode! We start our day eat Yuvalama (soup with yogurt broth, rice balls, chickpeas, lamb and mint oil) for breakfast on the street. We ventured into the old bazaars to see what the traditional vendors are selling. The Coppersmith Bazaar was super interesting and had a traditional feel. After breakfast, it was time to have Gaziantep’s best dessert: BAKLAVA!
Here in the bazaar you can order baklava of any size or kind, but in Gaziantep it is a MUST to eat pistachio baklava. Next we head to a local shop serving a Gaziantep specialty known as Dürüm Nohut (chickpea wrap). Here you can choose all of the fresh ingredients yourself. It is extremely filling, satisfying and healthy. It is also a great vegetarian street food option! Next, we visit the Zeugma Mosaic Museum, which is one of Gaziantep’s top attractions. Zeugma is the name of ancient Gaziantep and these mosaics were discovered all around Gaziantep. It is a great way to spend the afternoon and don’t forget to check out the Gypsy Girl piece!
After the museum, we walk 5 minutes up the street to try the delicious Küşleme (grilled lamb backbone)! This is a rare meat dish, as there isn’t much of this cut of meat on a lamb. It is tender and juicy. Cooked to perfection! It was served with a fresh salad and a few spicy Küşleme pieces. You can also get delicious baklava here as well.
Kanafeh is a traditional Middle Eastern dessert made with shredded filo pastry, or alternatively fine semolina dough, soaked in sweet, sugar-based syrup, and typically layered with cheese, or with other ingredients such as clotted cream or nuts, depending on the region.
