New Art Books: “Bosch – The Complete Works”

Bosch - The Complete Works - Stefan Fischer - TaschenA bird-monster devouring sinners, naked bodies in tantric contortions, a pair of ears brandishing a sharpened blade: with just 20 paintings and nine drawings to his name, Netherlandish visionary Hieronymus Bosch (c. 1450–1516) secured his place as a pillar of art history. To this day, the painter par excellence of hell and its demons continues to puzzle and enthrall scholars, artists, designers, and musicians alike.
.

Based on the best-selling XXL edition, which saw TASCHEN commission new and exclusive photography of details and recently restored works, this large-scale monograph presents Bosch’s complete oeuvre. Texts from art historian and Bosch expert Stefan Fischer dissect the many compelling elements that populate each scene, from hybrid creatures of man and beast to Bosch’s pictorial use of proverbs and idioms. By tying together the elusive threads of his oeuvre into one exhaustive overview, this book reveals just what it was about Bosch and his painting that proved so immensely influential.

Top New Travel Videos: “Amsterdam – Timelapse 4K” By Albert Dros (2020)

Filmed and Edited by: Albert Dros

My long awaited timelapse film about my current hometown Amsterdam is finally finished! This film consists of footage shot during a 2 year period (mostly before COVID), has all different seasons transitioning into each other and even has a lunar eclipse above the city skyline.

With this timelapse film I wanted to create something unique. I wanted to create a visual experience with beauty, flow and emotion. I want locals to be proud of their city when they watch this film, and tourists wanting to visit (even more). I put this all in a film packed with little details. There’s a big ‘fun facts’ list that can all be read on a dedicated page I created.

Amsterdam is one of the most beautiful (and relatively little) cities in the world. Our city is not ‘spectacular’ as it does not have impressive skyscrapers and hyper modern buildings. But It’s just the whole atmosphere with our beautiful old buildings, romantic canals and everything that comes with it.

I’m super excited to finally release this film and I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Travel Film: “Amsterdown” – A Portrait Of Amsterdam During Quarantine By Quentin van den Bossche

Produced/Directed/Shot/Edited by: Quentin van den Bossche

“Amsterdown” a portrait of Amsterdam during the global pandemic. As we explore life in a day of quarantined city, we journey through the usually energetic scene interrupted during an unprecedented time. Punctuated by a gentle bursts of local human activity.

The film was a cathartic exercise for a filmmaker left with very little purpose. Thematically, it’s a visual exploration of space and distance as set by our new way of life. Observing and examining what I could with what I had. Highlighting the contrast found in this emptiness, without comment.

The oral cover of Claire de Lune by the Swingle Singers, which I was attracted to very early on, was a piece that gave the edit a touch of humanity by filling the void left behind by people. We now live in a world that has been set on pause, as opposed to completely switched off – and there’s hope in that. Stay safe and healthy out there.
