Travel: Walking Tour Of Athens, Southern Greece

Tourister (April 5, 2023) – Athens, Modern Greek  Athínai,  Ancient Greek Athēnai, historic city and capital of Greece. Many of Classical civilization’s intellectual and artistic ideas originated there, and the city is generally considered to be the birthplace of Western civilization.

Athens lies 5 miles (8 km) from the Bay of Phaleron, an inlet of the Aegean (Aigaíon) Sea where Piraeus (Piraiévs), the port of Athens, is situated, in a mountain-girt arid basin divided north-south by a line of hills. Greater Athens has an area of 165 square miles (427 square km). The Kifisós River, only a trickle in summer, flows through the western half; the Ilisós River, often dry, traverses the eastern half.

They include 9 national parks and 14 protected landscape areas. High Tatras, the highest mountain range in Slovakia, is among the most visited and represents the isolated nature of the sample Slovak Carpathian mountains.

As are known monuments such as the High Tatras, Bratislava, and the like things are often unnoticed. Therefore, we are bringing you information about some relic of the western, central and eastern Slovakia, which are worth seeing.

Heritage: WWII Concrete Bunkers, Western France

FRANCE 24 English (April 3, 2023) – Eight decades after World War II, the Atlantic Wall is still breaking up. Along the coast of Brittany, in western France, lie more than 1,000 bunkers. Most of these vestiges of German occupation are abandoned, but some have been given a new lease of life.

The submarine base of Lorient has become an ideal location for manufacturing carbon masts for yachts. Further west, on the tip of Finistère, a bunker has been transformed into a museum on the war.

Finally, on the Crozon peninsula, a young entrepreneur has decided to transform a network of tunnels built by the Allies into a brewery.

Travel Tours: Chin Swee Caves Temple In Malaysia

Wind Walk Travel Videos ʬ (April 2, 2023) – Exploring Chin Swee Caves Temple (清水岩庙) located in the scenic site of Genting Highlands in Pahang, Malaysia. Chin Swee Temple is a Buddhist temple located 4,600 feet above sea level.

It was built by Lee Goh Tong, the late founder of Genting Highlands. The temple is dedicated to the Buddhist Monk Qingshui (清水), who was said to have possessed supernatural powers, perform miracles and defeat evil spirits.

UK Riverlands: The Beavers Of The Holnicote Estate

National Trust (April 2, 2023) – In this episode of The Wild Life, a new series of nature films from the National Trust, presenter Rob Bell meets the family of busy beavers at the Holnicote Estate in Somerset.

Rob takes part in some important conservation work and finds out how the beavers have been shaping the wetland habitat since they were brought to their enclosure in 2020. With an introduction from Julia Bradbury, this video also sheds light on wider work the National Trust is doing to reconnect rivers and streams to the surrounding landscape with its innovative Stage 0 project which is underway.

Rob learns how river restoration helps to ease challenges brought by climate change, including flooding and drought. The beavers also play a key role as ecosystem engineers and the dams they build hold water in dry periods and help to prevent flash flooding downstream.

In the north, capital city Las Palmas is a major stop for cruise ships and duty-free shopping. The island’s interior is rural and mountainous.
