The personal transportation industry has been shaken up over the past decade or so, with the introduction of electric cars proving to be more environmentally friendly, and importantly, cheaper to run, than their petrol or diesel counterparts. Bike manufacturers are also working on the transition in the motorcycle segment. While this change has been taking place, trucking has been continuing unchanged in the background. Our food, household goods, and even electric car parts, have been transported by diesel power just like they have been from the start, while the industry has grown to be worth $700 billion in the US alone, more than many of the world’s countries’ GDPs. With the huge weights involved, electrifying the trucking industry has taken a back seat due to the impracticality, but at the end of 2017, 3 years ago, Tesla announced plans to change this with the Semi, a fully electric truck designed to shake up the shipping industry. Tesla is by far one of the most successful companies in modern history. They popularized fully electric cars and created a massive demand among the public. With a market cap of around 380 billion dollars, Tesla is growing by the day.
But to keep up with orders Tesla built a futuristic facility called the Gigafactory. Today we’re taking a look inside the Tesla Gigafactory. Tesla currently produces about 350,000 cars a year—far fewer than the public demands. But they have ambitions to ramp up production to more than 20 million cars a year.
This bold strategy will require numerous advances in their current chain of production, including several larger factories, which are currently being built all over the world. But the bedrock of Tesla’s production line is their Gigafactory in Sparks, Nevada. The company’s first fully built factory will serve as the model for what eventually could be a dozen massive Tesla factories globally.
Investors and big auto makers are pouring money into electric-vehicle startups in a search for the next Tesla, with the hopes of cashing in. One company is drawing more scrutiny than most. WSJ explains.

Ford is introducing a new, eco-friendly electric four-door crossover. The Mustang Mach-E is making waves in the electric car community and will compete with Tesla for satisfied drivers. Some car enthusiasts challenge Ford’s decision to replace Mustang’s namesake 8 cylinder engine. But others argue a Mustang is a Mustang.

It’ll do 0-60 mph (0-98 km/h) in 2.9 seconds, and a quarter mile in a ridiculous 10.8 seconds in its highest performance variant. In top spec, it’ll go as far as 500 miles (800 km) on a charge, making it a genuine option for multi-day off-road adventures, and its 250-plus kilowatt charging capability means fast top-ups are on the cards, too. Towing capacity is over 7,500 lb (3,400 kg), which Musk happily demonstrated in an uphill tug of war against a hapless F150.
