Top New Timelapse Videos: ‘September Lights Of Northern Norway’ (2020)

Filmed and Edited by; ADRIEN MAUDUIT

It is common belief that September is too early to view the Northern Lights within the Arctic circle. Truthfully, it is one of the best times to see them, especially if you don’t like the cold. September is my favorite month of the year for aurora, as you have a bit of both cold and warm worlds.

The still mild temperatures enable you to get the precious reflection of the auroral dance in the still water of lakes and fjords. All hikes are also very accessible as the snow hasn’t fallen in big and dangerous quantities yet. As a conclusion, you can literally enjoy the northern lights from anywhere. It opens up so many more opportunities than at the heart of the winter.

This year, we are just coming out of solar minimum. And it shows! The month of September alone has been extremely productive, with both coronal hole High Speed Streams and CMEs (stealthy). More precisely, the week of September 24th – October 1st has delivered insane nightly shows back to back!

I wanted to showcase these beautiful displays that I was able to capture in Northern Norway (Senja and Troms area), as the leaves were starting to turn into golden and orange hues. I will publish a more general ‘Fall-themed’ movie in the near future. Stay tuned!

All was shot with the Sony a7s, a7rII and 2 Canon 6D astromodified, a variety of bright lenses ranging from 14mm to 50mm. For motion control I used the Syrp 3-axis Genie I system and also the Vixen Polarie. All post production was made in Lr with the special timelapse plus plugin, Sequence for mac, TLDF, and final production was made in FCPX. I hope you like the movie as much as I liked shooting and processing it and I thank everyone of you for your support. New Walking Tour Video: ‘Bruges, Belgium’ (2020)

We recorded this 4k ultra hd video during our trip to Bruges, Belgium on August 2020. Bruges (Brugge in Dutch) is located in the northwest corner of Belgium and is the capital and largest city of the province of West Flanders. It is a mere 44 km from Ghent to the southeast and 145 km from Brussels.

The medieval center of Bruges is remarkably well preserved and is a UNESCO world heritage site. Bruges had its golden age around 1300 when it became one of the most prosperous cities of Europe. Our guided walking tour is about 1.55 miles (2.5 km) long, starts at Burg Square and covers most attractions and historic sites of Bruges.

Timelapse Travel Videos: ‘Fær Øer 4K’ In The Faroe Islands Of Denmark (2020)

Filmed and Edited by: Marco Equitani

This is my last work entirely shot in Faroe Islands and that means that travel around the world during Covid-emergency is possible if you respect some simple rules.

Do not be afraid to travel, do not close yourself at home with the fear of other people, if you respect yourself and other people with simple rules, you can explore the world in safety, we have to fight for our freedom!
I arrived in Vagar Airport on September 18th and after customs routine we all were immediately tested for Covid-19 and they invited us to self quarantine for at least 24 hours or until we get the result; luckily all the passengers were negative and I got the result after 8 hours, so I was free, even if I have to be tested again in six days.

After the negative test I was free to travel around those amazing islands and start making pictures and timealapse sequence.

To be honest, make a timelapse in Faroe Islands is not easy at all, weather changes every five minute and sometimes I had to restart to capture a scene several times; take a single picture is much easier, you just wait for the rain to stop and you can take your picture, but when you have to take 400/500 photos avery two seconds, weather can suddenly change and destroy your job.

By the way I succed, I was patient and I tried to chose the best moment to capture the best situation nature gave me, but due to extreme weather changes I decided to shot even when light was not perfect because maybe that could be my olny chance.

Faroe Islands are amazing but you have to fight with weather much more than other places like Iceland or Norway.

I was also very lucky with Aurora Borealis, infact isn’t common to see northern light from Faroe Islands, they are they are low in latitude with respect to the Arctic Circle, sky is always cloudy for 300 days per year and to see a good Aurora show you need at least a 4kp Aurora…and it was like that, it, nature gave me a 4kp Aurora and a cloud coverage between 70%-80% so I could see Aurora very good, even if I can’t compare with some clear skyes of Norway or Iceland.

Timelapse Travel Videos: ‘Rotterdam To Amsterdam In 10 Minutes’ – 4K Sailing

In 2013 a special transport over water left from Rotterdam to Amsterdam. A timelapse camera was installed at 30 mtrs high. The resulting film gives a unique and stunning view of the old Dutch waterways, in 4K. Images were shot with a Canon 550d at an interval of 3 seconds, totalling around 30.000 pictures taken. In 2013 the film couldn’t be published right away due to restrictions. After a few years it was forgotten. Till now.

Music: Dvorak – Symphony no. 9 (From the New World) – second movement

Here you can find a picture of the transport:

Top 2-Hour Walking Tours: ‘Sorrento, Italy’ (Video)

Sorrento is a coastal town in southwestern Italy, facing the Bay of Naples on the Sorrentine Peninsula. Perched atop cliffs that separate the town from its busy marinas, it’s known for sweeping water views and Piazza Tasso, a cafe-lined square. The historic center is a warren of narrow alleys that’s home to the Chiesa di San Francesco, a 14th-century church with a tranquil cloister.

New Timelapse Videos: “New Zealand Total Isolation” In 4K (Apr 2020)

Filmed and Edited by: Bevan Percival

Watch in 4K, sound on. New Zealand Total Isolation is my latest time lapse show reel of the beautiful New Zealand wilderness landscapes. All sequences shot as full ‘holy grail’ time lapse scenes – that is full sequences from day through night back to day, requiring 3000 to 5000 frames each sequence.

While we are all in lock down isolation here due to the current pandemic situation we can only reminisce at present what it’s like to be out in the wilderness. If your like me and can’t stand being ‘caged up’ maybe watching this show reel unfold in front of your eyes will help ease your soul? I hope so.

So many times over the course of shooting these challenging all night scenes my body, soul, mind and gear were beaten up by the elements and bad luck or other unknown forces, however there is just something about our earth, our land and the time spent in it that just brings you back time and time again. I always seem to have unfinished business, chasing the elusive and beautiful landscapes of Aotearoa New Zealand, and I can’t wait to get back out there, soon, it’s still there, waiting.
