Travel & Culture: ‘The Charm Of Saint-Pierre And Miquelon’, France (Video)
It’s a scattering of French soil off the coast of #Canada. For two centuries, the archipelago of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, with its fish-rich waters, attracted people from Brittany, Normandy but above all from France’s Basque country. Their descendants still keep Basque heritage alive, such as pelota and traditional songs. FRANCE 24 takes you to discover these islands with their pretty seascapes and rich biodiversity. We also set sail with some fishermen to catch halibut.
Saint Pierre and Miquelon is a French archipelago south of the Canadian island of Newfoundland. Sparsely populated Miquelon-Langlade island contains the Grand Barachois lagoon, home to seabirds and seals. The busier Saint Pierre island has a distinct French atmosphere, with a cathedral and the Musée Heritage, which celebrates regional history. An island nearby, Île-aux-Marins, features an abandoned fishing village.

The Snæfellsnes Peninsula is a region in western Iceland known for its dramatic landscapes. At its western tip, Snæfellsjökull National Park is dominated by Snæfellsjökull Volcano, which is topped by a glacier. Nearby, a trail leads through lava fields to black-pebble Djúpalónssandur Beach. In Stykkishólmur fishing village, the 19th-century wood-frame Norwegian House is a regional museum with a craft shop.
Iceland, a Nordic island nation, is defined by its dramatic landscape with volcanoes, geysers, hot springs and lava fields. Massive glaciers are protected in Vatnajökull and Snæfellsjökull national parks. Most of the population lives in the capital, Reykjavik, which runs on geothermal power and is home to the National and Saga museums, tracing Iceland’s Viking history

Filmed and Edited by: Ondrej Mitas
This is my latest project. Timelapse short film which captures beauty of nature and landscape of Beskydy mountains in Czech Republic. These are some best shots of 2020.
The Beskydy Mountains are also known as the Beskid Mountain or Beskids for short. This is a massive mountain range that covers 600 km in length and crosses from Poland to the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and the Ukraine. Featuring forests, wildlife, and river valleys, these collection of peaks offer a pristine ecosystem away from the big city. There are a number of peaks to the mountain but there’s none more famous than it’s peak, Lysá Hora.

Ocean Transport: ‘Are Renewable Ships Possible?’
The shipping industry plays a critical role in the global economy, carrying approximately 90% of the total tonnage of world’s traded goods. Shipping propulsion has changed radically since the mid-19th century, from the renewable energy of sail power, to the coal power of steamships, to the predominance of heavy fuel oil and marine diesel oil. But renewable energy technologies could transform the global shipping fleet again, at all levels and scales.
