Scotland Views: Mains Castle In East Kilbride

John Carroll

John Carroll (December 2022) – East Kilbride is the largest town in South Lanarkshire in Scotland and the country’s sixth-largest locality by population. It was also designated Scotland’s first new town on 6 May 1947.

Mains Castle lies just to the north of East Kilbride, and is easily visible from the public path around the loch of the James Hamilton Heritage Park. It is a free-standing rectangular tower house on a mound, with a square caphouse providing access to the wallwalk in one corner of the tower. Historically there were additional buildings clustered around the tower, but there are no traces of these now. Mains Castle is privately owned and is occupied.

Northern Finland is the northernmost part of Finland. Administratively it comprises Finnish Lapland and the provinces of Kainuu and Northern Ostrobothnia. France Views: Strasbourg Christmas Market 2022

Tourist Channel (December 2022) – Each year, nearly two million visitors flock to Strasbourg, the Alsatian capital to discover its wonders. The Strasbourg Christmas Market extends over more than ten sites, all located within the Big Island. During the four weeks of the Strasbourg Christmas market, as soon as night falls, the city is adorned with sublime illuminations that give it a magical dimension.

The big fir tree, place Kléber, is the most beautiful expression of this. Thirty meters high, wonderfully decorated, it impresses with its presence, its majesty. Symbol of an Alsatian tradition dating back five centuries, it is the ambassador of a city bathed in light.

The Christkindelsmärik, or “market of the child Jesus”, is the name given in the Alsatian language to the traditional Christmas market which has been held since 1570 in Strasbourg, Alsace, and was for a long time the only one in France. It begins on the first Saturday of Advent and ends on the evening of December 24. The Christkindelsmärik attracts two million visitors from all over the world every year.

North Africa Views: High Values In Moroccan Rugs

Insider Business (December 17, 2022) – Moroccan rugs are valued around the world for their complex patterns and thick wool. A large rug can take months to weave, but the women who complete each step by hand usually receive the least profit. Selling directly to consumers is challenging, so artisans often rely on middlemen who sell the rugs for several times more in big cities. Online, Moroccan rugs can sell for several thousand dollars.

Island Views: One Day In Taormina In Sicily, Italy

MYGEMPICTURES (December 16, 2022) – Taormina is a hilltop town on the east coast of Sicily. It sits near Mount Etna, an active volcano with trails leading to the summit. The town is known for the Teatro Antico di Taormina, an ancient Greco-Roman theater still used today. Near the theater, cliffs drop to the sea forming coves with sandy beaches. A narrow stretch of sand connects to Isola Bella, a tiny island and nature reserve.

Due to the picturesque landscape, mild climate and numerous historical sights, the city developed into one of the most important tourist centers in Sicily in the 19th and 20th centuries. I only had about half a day to capture with my camera the many sights and the atmosphere that was unique to me.

Among other things, I was thrilled by the great views, the old town and the many palaces, decorated with Arabic style elements. The visit to the Greek theater is the highlight of my video. It is the second largest ancient theater in Sicily, built in the 3rd century BC.

Taormina was defined by Goethe “The greatest masterpiece of art and nature”, and the historical French travel writer Guy de Maupassant called the city a “painting in which we find everything that seems to exist on earth to seduce the eyes, mind and imagination”. But just see for yourself – in my video.

Tours: Plas Newydd House Snowdonia, North Wales

National Trust – Set on the shores of the Menai Strait, visitors to the gardens at Plas Newydd in Wales can take in the sea air and enjoy views of Snowdonia.

The gardens, dating back to the 16th century, owe much of their dramatic beauty to landscape designer Humphry Repton who in 1798, who planted trees to make the most of the views. Repton’s legacy influences the way the National Trust cares for the gardens today.

Discover ornate courtyards, a vibrant rhododendron garden and a tree house – features when the 6th Marquess of Anglesey lived at Plas Newydd with his family. You’ll also pick up a gardening tip to help you keep your flower beds happy and healthy over winter. The gardens at Plas Newydd are only open at weekends during the winter.
