Resort Towns: ‘Zakopane – Southern Poland’ (Video)

Zakopane is a resort town in southern Poland, at the base of the Tatras Mountains. It’s a popular departure point for winter sports and summertime mountain climbing and hiking. Kasprowy Wierch and Gubałówka, reachable by cable car and funicular, are nearby ski destinations offering sweeping mountain views. The town is also known for its turn-of-the-20th-century wooden chalets, symbols of Zakopane-style architecture.

Profiles: ‘Marbled Paper’ Makers Of Florence, Italy

In the Italian city of Florence, high-quality colored paper and gift wrap have a long tradition. In fact, some of it is still made by hand. These papers are famous for their delightful patterns, shiny colors, and their Italian Renaissance-era motifs. We went to visit paper manufacturers in Florence to find out more about this age-old tradition!

Jakarta, Indonesia’s massive capital, sits on the northwest coast of the island of Java. The old town, Kota Tua, is home to Dutch colonial buildings, Glodok (Jakarta’s Chinatown) and the old port of Sunda Kelapa, where traditional wooden schooners dock.

Winter Views: ‘Achterhoek – The Netherlands’ (Video)

The Achterhoek is a cultural region in the eastern Netherlands. Its name is geographically appropriate because the area lies in the easternmost part of Gelderland, and therefore in the east of the Netherlands, protruding into Germany. The Achterhoek lies at the East of the IJssel and Oude IJssel rivers.

From the 7th to the 14th of February 2021 we had severe winter weather with 30 cm snowfall on the 7th and the whole week temperatures down to 15 degrees Celsius below zero. Of course there are many countries where these circumstances are normal in winter, but in The Netherlands it only happens once in 10 years or so.

After a couple of days ponds and brooks were frozen, so people went out for skating the whole weekend. Young children had this opportunity for the first time of their life. In this video recordings of the country side in the east of The Netherlands plus an impression of skating fun in Bredevoort.

Sailboat Racing: Luna Rossa Italy Tops UK INEOS In Prada Cup (Video Recap)

A strong boat, and an impressive sailing performance saw Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli beat INEOS Team UK by 7 victories to one in the Prada Cup final. The Italians will now go on to the America’s Cup itself.

Walks: ‘Bhaktapur – City Of Temples’ In Nepal (4K)

Bhaktapur, also known as Khwopa, also known as the city of the temples, is a city in the east corner of the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal about 13 kilometres from the capital city, Kathmandu. It is located in and serves as the headquarters of Bhaktapur District in Bagmati Pradesh of Nepal. 

Aerial Views: ‘Oklahoma City – Oklahoma’ (4k Video)

Oklahoma City is the capital of the U.S. state of Oklahoma. It’s known for its cowboy culture and capitol complex, surrounded by working oil wells. The reflecting pool and empty glass and bronze chairs of the Oklahoma City National Memorial recall the victims of the 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. The Survivor Tree, an American elm nearly destroyed in the attack, is also part of the memorial. 

Walks: ‘Leiden – The Netherlands’ (4K Video)

Leiden is a city in the Dutch province of South Holland. It’s known for its centuries-old architecture and for Leiden University, the country’s oldest, dating from 1575. The university houses the Hortus botanicus Leiden Botanical Garden, founded in 1590, where the tulip was introduced to Western Europe. The Museum de Lakenhal displays works by the Dutch Masters including Rembrandt, who was born in Leiden.

Artists: ‘The Vibrancy Of The Scottish Colourists’

The Scottish Colourists were some of the most important and avant-garde artists working during the early 20th century. Their art was bold and vibrant and unlike anything that had been produced in Britain before. Sotheby’s upcoming sale ‘The Way of Colour: Pictures from the Harrison Collection’ (10 – 17 March) offers Fauvist inspired paintings by George Leslie Hunter, stunning still-lifes by Francis Campbell Boileau Cadell and Cezanne-like work by Samuel John Peploe.
