Views: ‘Octola Lodge & Private Wilderness’ In Lapland, Finland (Video)

The Most Exclusive Lodge In Lapland

Having hunted for the right place to accommodate the discerning guests of our Luxury Action travel company, I eventually realized the the right property did not exists in the right location. That’s when I decided the only option was to build our very own log chalet. Traditionally, we have managed or rented private chalets in various locations around Lapland, then refurnished them to meet the individual standards of our guests.

As fun and instructive this concept has been, implementing interior design on a one-by-one basis is costly and time consuming. In addition, regardless of our efforts to upgrade the existing chalets in Lapland, although of excellent quality, tend to have very small rooms and only a few properties have en-suite bedrooms with shower and toilet. I felt it was time for a revolutionary change to provide exclusive accommodation in the Arctic that meets the needs of our experiential guests.

Top Hotel Tours: ‘Forestis Dolomites’ In Italy (Video)

Join me on a full tour of Forestis, an incredibly stylish and uber-luxurious 5-star hotel in the Italian Alps. Cool, tranquil and connected to its stunning setting, Forestis is a ski-in/ski-out, adults-only sanctuary in the Dolomites’ spectacular mountainscape, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Hideaway

FORESTIS is located in a densely wooded area, 1,800 m above sea-level, with a view of the Dolomites. The area’s unique and outstanding natural character had already prompted the Austrian monarchy to establish a tuberculosis sanatorium at precisely this special site.

Architecture

The architecture of FORESTIS is inspired by the same natural features that were once decisive in establishing a sanatorium. The excellent water, air, sun and climate are reflected here in equally authentic materials. Stone, from which the spring emerges, glass, as clear as the air, warm materials that warm like the sun, and the wood that grows best in this climate. Outside and inside, these natural materials are in harmony with each other, just like nature itself.

Destination Hotels: Parco Dei Principi In Sorrento, Italy – 1960’s “Infinite Blue”

From a Cereal Magazine online article (March 2, 2020):

Hotel Parco dei Principi di Sorrento facebookOf all Gio Ponti’s 100-odd buildings, Sorrento is the only hotel where you can still stay, fully immersed in his art — for as well as the building itself he designed every last detail. He was not just an architect, but a designer — of interiors, furniture, industry, cars — an artist and a ceramicist, a writer and a teacher; and at Parco dei Principi his passion for so many disciplines converged in one triumphant paean to modernity.

The concept of infinite blue was architect Gio Ponti’s driving inspiration when he built Parco dei Principi, his slice of 1960s modernism on a coast of faded antiquity. When it opened in 1962, the hotel was something new for ancient Sorrento: a clean-lined, contemporary edifice on the tufa-stone cliff. Inside, the bright, wide-open spaces were pared down and decorated entirely in white and blue.
