Wildlife Views: A Bobcat Hunting In Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Throughout winter, the rivers are full of food for those who know how to hunt it, and this tenacious bobcat is trying to catch his next meal.

Bobcats are small wild cats with reddish-brown or yellowish-brown coats, streaked with black or dark brown. They have prominent, pointed ears with a tuft of black hair at the tip. Females average 20 pounds and males weigh from 16 to 30 pounds. They breed in late winter or early spring and have a gestation period of about two months. A female may have one to six kittens each year. Although adapted to a variety of habitats across the country, they do not tolerate the deep snows found in much of Yellowstone, and thus they are usually reported in the northern portion of the park. Bobcats move about their home ranges most actively in the hours near dawn and dusk, hunting small mammals such as mice, rabbits, hares, and deer. They seek cover in conifer stands and on rocky ledges.

Wilderness Views: ‘The Kimberly – Australia’ (4K)

The Kimberley is Western Australia’s sparsely settled northern region. It’s known for large swaths of wilderness defined by rugged ranges, dramatic gorges, semi-arid savanna and a largely isolated coastline. The mostly unsealed (unpaved) Gibb River Road runs 660km through the region’s heart, passing by Windjana Gorge National Park, which has towering limestone cliffs and pools where freshwater crocodiles gather.

I’m drawn to this place where you’ll see no trace of modern man. A place still full of mystery and natural treasure, of ancient landmarks and undiscovered beauty. This is uncharted country, this is the Kimberley, Australia.

Special thanks to THE GREAT ESCAPE CHARTER CO. for sending me into this wilderness, thank you!

Wildlife: Saving The ‘Skywalker Gibbon’ Of Southwest China (Video)

Deep in a cloud forest far, far away are the planet’s last remaining Skywalker gibbons. These small members of the apes family were only identified in 2017 (by, you guessed it, a Star Wars fan), but already they’re endangered.

Now, researchers in south-west China have developed an ingenious technique for getting gibbons from different territories to meet and form a partnership – these Skywalkers mate for life. Join us to see how technology can be used as a Force for good to help protect this vanishing species.

Scientists announced the discovery of a new species of primate, the skywalker hoolock gibbon (Hoolock tianxing), in the American Journal of Primatology on Tuesday. The scientists named it skywalker because the Chinese characters for its scientific name translate to “heaven’s movement”—but also because they’re fans of Star Warsaccording to the BBC.

Nature: Local Woods In ‘Navarra – Spain’ Using Infrared Timelapse (Video)

Filmed and Edited by: Txema Ortiz

An audiovisual poem, a fantastic story towards a dream place. We try to create an Atmosphere of Orange-Red-Yellow tones, thus giving a different image and turning the places into magic. Nature is shown in another way, one more reason to be conserved and pampered, since it is inhabited by a multitude of species, including “the slug”,

Navarra (Navarre) is a geographically diverse region in northern Spain. A medieval Basque kingdom, it was annexed by Castile in the 16th century. Dotted with remote villages, its capital and largest city is Pamplona, famous for its annual running of the bulls. Pamplona has 16th-century fortifications, the Gothic Santa María la Real Cathedral and the Museo de Navarra, with archaeological and art collections.

Wilderness Timelapse: ‘Spirit In The Forests’ Of Abruzzo, Italy (Video)

Filmed and Edited by: Giovanni Lattanzi

Spiritus Silvam, the spirit of the forest. A timelapse video for an enchanted journey in the Abruzzo forests, in search of the magical spirit. That vital essence that inhabits all the woods of the world and that welcomes and accompanies you when you are among the trees, in their home. But you must have a free and aware mind, as well as a pure soul, to be able to meet him. And you have to remain silent in thought and open in your heart to talk to us and let you tell his magical stories.

Abruzzo is an Italian region, east of Rome, with an Adriatic coastline and the Apennine Mountains. National parks and nature reserves cover much of its rugged interior. It also encompasses hilltop towns, dating to the medieval and Renaissance periods. Regional capital L’Aquila is a walled city, damaged in a 2009 earthquake. The Trabocchi Coast, with sandy coves, is named after its traditional wooden fishing piers.

America’s National Parks: ‘Yellowstone’ – National Geographic (Video)

Few places are as special and unique as Yellowstone National Park – the world’s first national park. A wilderness jewel of vast forests and wide-open valleys, home to large bison herds, wolf packs, and grizzly bears. It sits atop one of the world’s largest super volcanoes, giving rise to such iconic geothermal features as Old Faithful geyser and the Grand Prismatic Spring.
