The super yacht thoughtfully interprets its unique context to create an architectural home that offers not just a refuge but an experience – one that allows a deep connection to the elements. Halcyon is a graceful expression of Jolson’s combined interior and architectural expertise, its design seamlessly integrating with elements of the landscape to maximise the unique context.
Living on the water means changing orientations and outlooks are to be celebrated. As such, an open plan ground floor with limited joinery, furniture and walls allows many outlooks, with a full-height wall serving as a division that enables the lounge and outdoor dining area to connect seamlessly. The first floor also houses two master bedrooms and two other guest bedrooms that share an ensuite. In the middle of the super yacht is a staircase that extends to the open rooftop, which houses a woodfired hot tub.
The super yacht takes advantage of its mooring by welcoming the textures of the landscape inside the architecture of the boat, recounting a strong connection between the water and the landscape with the interior design. Floor-to-ceiling windows, an open floor plan with minimal partitions and large, functional outdoor spaces were all incorporated to maximise the indoor-outdoor connection.
Launched in 2018 at VMG Shipyard, the 89’ (27.32m) SPIRIT OF VENICE is a classic masterpiece and is the perfect example of close collaboration between owner and designer. She boasts a rich Dutch pedigree with an aluminum hull built by Dijkstra Metaalbewerking, a superstructure built by VMG and designs by Olivier van Meer.
The yacht was built with all the features to be sailed single-handedly around the world with the utmost comfort and updated technology. Her 2018 build has combined modern elements with an authentic, classic style. SPIRIT OF VENICE can enter small harbors and shallow sailing areas, and her stern platform allows the owner to easily maneuverer the tender into the water.
SPIRIT OF VENICE welcomes up to six guests in the comfort of three well-appointed cabins. The master cabin features a double bed, stylish sofa, plenty of storage space and a clever book corner. The adjoining bathroom is traditional, with a classic bathtub and gold hardware. The two additional cabins also offer storage and a spacious bathroom.

It wasn’t the fastest and a small boat didn’t win, but this year’s Round the Island race was one to remember as a being a classic blast around the Isle of Wight.
The annual Round the Island Race, organised by the Island Sailing Club, is a one-day yacht race around the Isle of Wight, an island situated off the south coast of England. The race regularly attracts over 1,400 boats and around 15,000 sailors, making it one of the largests yacht races in the world and the fourth largest participation sporting event in the UK after the London Marathon and the Great North and South Runs.
Competitors come from all over the UK, other parts of Europe and as far away as the USA to follow the 50 nautical mile course round the Isle of Wight. Starting on the famous Royal Yacht Squadron line in Cowes, the fleet races westabout, to The Needles, round St Catherine’s Point and Bembridge Ledge buoy, and back into the Solent to the finish line at Cowes.
Spectators can find many vantage points, both on the mainland and Isle of Wight, to watch the race progress. Those who cannot get to watch in person can always keep an eye on the race’s progress on the website, via our live text commentary and our boat tracking facility.
Rainbow exudes a sense of grace and power, but is a thoroughly modern recreation of its 1930s namesake. Launched in 2012 by Holland Jachtbouw, she faintly resembles the 1934 J Class America’s Cup winner. Because she mixes classic design with modern technology, this new-generation Rainbow packs more pedigree into her 140-foot aluminum hull than most other modern sailing yachts combined.
Well I have to say that this is one of my all time favourite yachts, a pleasure to walk around, a pleasure to cruise on, and an absolute pleasure to film. I can hardly believe that so much style and personality can come from an 80′ yacht. But here she is: “LARIMAR”. Lituya Bay is a fjord located on the coast of the south-east part of the U.S. state of Alaska. It is 14.5 km long and 3.2 km wide at its widest point. The bay was noted in 1786 by Jean-François de Lapérouse, who named it Port des Français. Twenty-one of his men perished in the tidal current in the bay.
