Cinematic Austrian Views: ‘I Dreamt Of Carinthia’ (4K)
Carinthia is a southern Austrian region in the eastern Alps that encompasses Austria’s highest mountain, Grossglockner. It’s characterized by alpine lakes and mountains, as well as medieval buildings such as Hochosterwitz Castle. The region’s capital of Klagenfurt sits on the shores of huge Lake Wörthersee, surrounded by vineyards. Its central Alter Platz (Old Square) has many Renaissance buildings.

I personally love Carinthia. It is a wonderful place with many lakes, valleys and mountain ranges that has a relaxing and decelerating effect on me. Part of my family lives there, but unfortunately I can’t visit them as often as I would like. But in the times when I can’t be there, I look forward to my next visit, and live off the memories. That’s how my video “I dreamt of Carinthia” came about, which offers a wealth of drone shots in the most beautiful sunset and sunrise light, combined with emotional and melancholic-feeling music that makes me dream. Cinematic Views: The Icy Landscapes Of Antarctica
Join Paul Nicklen, Yo-Yo Ma, and Marcus Goddard for a musical journey through the icy landscape of Antarctica.
This 13-minute work created by award-winning composer Marcus Goddard and SeaLegacy features cinematography by world-renowned photographer Paul Nicklen and a solo by celebrated cellist Yo-Yo Ma along with musical contributions from forty artists from eighteen orchestras from around the world.
The piece was co-commissioned by the Aventa Ensemble with assistance from the BC Arts Council and by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Antarctica, one of our planet’s life forces, helps to regulate the climate, control the ocean currents, and support more life than we know of. The impact of the icy continent is endless, and yet this magical place is disappearing before our eyes. But as quickly as conditions have changed in Antarctica, the future of this extraordinary continent can be redirected for the better.
Cinematic Travel: The Sahara Desert, Morocco
Few places on earth compare to the Sahara Desert, a natural wonder of vast plains and sun-baked dunes that dominates the south and east of Morocco. The world’s largest hot desert, the Sahara stretches a staggering 5.6 million square miles (9 million square kilometers) over several countries. Hemmed in by the Atlas mountain range, the Saharan sands are one of Morocco’s many highlights.
Views: The Gondolas And Canals Of Venice, Italy
The gondola is a traditional venetian boat used to move around the city of Venice Italy. In the absence of roads, the inhabitants couldn’t use horses, and the size of the canals required a thin and flat bottomed embarcation. The venitian gondola surely answers all those problems.
The construction of a gondola requires a lot of time ( about a year ) and some well selected pieces of wood (8 different types). The craftsman starts by building the skeleton, then adds the sides and keeps building on top of the structure.

“Emilia-Romagna is a land of bell towers,
symbol of a region that has its roots in the earth,
but try to rush towards the sky,
to see what’s there.”
Emilia-Romagna is a region in northern Italy, extending from the Apennine Mountains to the Po River in the north. It’s known for its medieval cities, rich gastronomy and seaside resorts. The capital, Bologna, is a vibrant city with an 11th-century university and arched porticos lining the streets and squares of its medieval core. Ravenna, near the Adriatic coast, is famed for its brightly colored Byzantine mosaics.

During a three month journey travelling and working on organic farms in Japan, filmmaker Steve Atkins often found himself distracted by the beauty around him. As sunlight filtered through the trees that towered over him, their silhouette gracing the surface beneath or ahead him, he felt repeatedly drawn and connected with the Natural world — an effect of Komorebi performing itself on the peripheries.
There is a magical quality to the animate expression of Nature; a mutual puppet-show hosted between trees, light and wind. “When I paused long enough to take it all in, to share in a humble celebration of Nature’s playfulness, I was gifted with a potent ease,” Atkins shares…

Cinematic Views: ‘Niagara Falls’, Ontario, Canada (4K)
Niagara Falls, Ontario, is a Canadian city at the famous waterfalls of the same name, linked with the U.S. by the Rainbow Bridge. Its site on the Niagara River’s western shore overlooks the Horseshoe Falls, the cascades’ most expansive section. Elevators take visitors to a lower, wetter vantage point behind the falls. A cliffside park features a promenade alongside 520-ft.-high Skylon Tower with an observation deck.
Cinematic Views: ‘Bergamo – Northern Italy’ (Video)
Bergamo is an Italian city northeast of Milan, in the Lombardy region. Its older upper district, called Città Alta, is characterized by cobblestone streets, encircled by Venetian walls and accessible by funicular. It’s home to the Duomo di Bergamo, the city cathedral. Also here are the Romanesque Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore and the grand Cappella Colleoni, a chapel with 18th-century frescoes by Tiepolo.
