Vigevano is a town near Milan, in northern Italy. It’s known for the portico-lined Piazza Ducale, dating from 1492. A staircase under the Torre del Bramante tower gives access to the courtyard of Castello Sforzesco. The vast castle houses several museums, including the Leonardiana, with reproductions of works by Leonardo da Vinci. The town’s renowned shoemaking history is highlighted at the Museo della Calzatura.

Soprano Renée Fleming sings the “Ave Maria” from Verdi’s “Otello” in the Met’s live At-Home Gala on April 25, 2020.
Otello is an opera in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi to an Italian libretto by Arrigo Boito, based on Shakespeare’s play Othello. It was Verdi’s penultimate opera, first performed at the Teatro alla Scala, Milan, on 5 February 1887.

Rome – You will surely not run out of things to do in Italy’s biggest city. A top pick among many backpackers despite its steep prices, Rome is undeniably one of the most gorgeous cities in the world. You will be missing out if you do not make time to see the fantastic Colosseum, the biggest amphitheater of the ancient Roman Empire. As you look at its vastness, you can almost hear the loud roar of the audience as they watch the greatest gladiators fight. Additionally, Rome is also filled with tons of attractions such as churches, fountains, and museums. It is truly a place you should immerse yourself in at least once in your life.
Verona – If you’re a fan of Romeo and Juliet, you’ve probably heard about the town of Verona. Aside from being the setting to arguably the most popular love story of all time, Verona has a variety of medieval structures. Don’t forget to see Casa di Giulietta or Juliet’s House and leave a love note on its courtyard walls. Siena Unlike other major cities in Italy, this charismatic city is not packed with thousands of tourists. Siena boasts some of the most beautiful old structures in the country and is popular for its bareback horse races. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can climb up the civic palace to see the view of the entire town.
Milan – No visit to Italy is complete without walking along the streets of Milan. If you love to shop, this fashion center is the place to be. Here, you can live like royalty as you shop till you drop and immerse yourself in its vibrant art and culinary scene.
Top Artist Profile: Italian Illustrator Carlo Stanga
Born in Italy, Carlo has been always deeply passionate about drawing.
After graduating in Architecture at the Polytechnic of Milan, he chose to further his education attending art and design studies. He collaborated with the premier italian designer Bruno Munari, an amazing experience that influenced his way to see the world.
As an editorial and advertising illustrator, Carlo works with major italian magazines and newspapers and with international clients in Europe and in the U.S.
His distinctive style continually wins Italian Illustration awards and the work has been selected by The American Illustration Annual and won the Gold Medal Award in Creative Quarterly’s #15 contest and Awards of Excellence from Communication Arts.
In 2015 he wrote and illustrated I am Milan, followed by I am London and I am New York the first title of a new book collection, published by Moleskine, dedicated to the main cities of the world.
Carlo lives and works in Berlin.
Video Concerts: Italian Tenor Andrea Bocelli Sings In Empty Duomo Cathedral, Milan (April 12)
Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli sang in a closed Duomo Cathedral in Milan on Sunday, as a part of a “Music for Hope” event designed to bring people together during the new coronavirus outbreak.
Instead of a crowd in the pews, Bocelli’s performance was watched via livestream on his YouTube channel. Accompanied only by the cathedral’s organist Emanuele Vianello, the Italian opera singer’s set included classic songs such as “Ave Maria” and “Amazing Grace.”
