Bauen is what can be considered a hidden gem among the Swiss villages. It lays by the shores of the Vierwaldstättersee and is often overlooked. Bauen has a unique climate, it’s usually quite warm during the year. With its Mediterranean vibes and the many palm trees, this village is very inviting to visitors.

Bauen is a former municipality on Lake Lucerne in the Swiss canton of Uri. On 1 January 2021 the former municipality of Bauen merged into the municipality of Seedorf.

Baltic City Walks: Vilnius – Capital Of Lithuania (4K)

Vilnius, Lithuania’s capital, is known for its baroque architecture, seen especially in its medieval Old Town. But the buildings lining this district’s partially cobblestoned streets reflect diverse styles and eras, from the neoclassical Vilnius Cathedral to Gothic St. Anne’s Church. The 16th-century Gate of Dawn, containing a shrine with a sacred Virgin Mary icon, once guarded an entrance to the original city.

Exeter is an ancient city on the River Exe in southwest England. Dating back to the Roman era, the Exeter City Walls surround its centre and Gothic Exeter Cathedral. Exeter Castle, a Norman landmark, overlooks leafy Northernhay and Rougemont Gardens. To their west, the Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (RAMM) displays fine art and costumes. The vaulted, medieval Underground Passages snake beneath the city. 

City Walks: Bruges In Northwest Belgium (4K)

Bruges, the capital of West Flanders in northwest Belgium, is distinguished by its canals, cobbled streets and medieval buildings. Its port, Zeebrugge, is an important center for fishing and European trade. In the city center’s Burg square, the 14th-century Stadhuis (City Hall) has an ornate carved ceiling. Nearby, Markt square features a 13th-century belfry with a 47-bell carillon and 83m tower with panoramic views.

Poreč is a popular summer resort on the coast of the Istrian Peninsula in western Croatia. In the historic old town, the 6th-century Euphrasian Basilica complex is famous for its gem-studded Byzantine mosaics. The coastline north and south of town draws visitors with camping areas, marinas and beaches with water sports. Some 6 km inland, the Baredine Cave is notable for its stalactite formations.

The Musée d’Orsay is a museum in Paris, France, on the Left Bank of the Seine. It is housed in the former Gare d’Orsay, a Beaux-Arts railway station built between 1898 and 1900. The museum holds mainly French art dating from 1848 to 1914, including paintings, sculptures, furniture, and photography.

Inverness is a city on Scotland’s northeast coast, where the River Ness meets the Moray Firth. It’s the largest city and the cultural capital of the Scottish Highlands. Sélestat is a commune in the Bas-Rhin region of Alsace in north-eastern France. Sub-prefecture and seat of the community of communes of Sélestat, it had 19,360 inhabitants at the last census in 2018, which made it the fifth commune of Bas-Rhin and the eighth Alsatian commune in number of inhabitants. Its inhabitants are called Sélestadiens and Sélestadiennes. Located in the plain of Alsace, at the foot of the Vosges, the town is crossed by the Ill and its territory is largely covered by the wetlands of the Grand Ried.
