TOP TRAVEL VIDEOS: “AERIAL AMERICA – WASHINGTON” (SMITHSONIAN CHANNEL)

Washington is home to some of America’s wildest spaces and also its most modern cities. The Evergreen State is a story of mirror opposites: a wet, mountainous, tree-covered west and a dry, flat, open east. It is home to high-tech industries and America’s oldest Native American tribes. Experience all sides of Washington State, from thousands of feet in the air, and witness its conflicting worlds merging to form a land of remarkable beauty.

Top New Travel Videos: “Blissful Big Sur” In Coastal California By Jessica Peterson (2020)

Filmed and Edited by: Jessica Peterson

I documented a solo trip to Big Sur last year, encountering gossamer fog that rolled over hairpin curves high above azure swells then at sunset transformed into pink cotton candy. My dream is to live cliff side as a hermitic cat lady novelist. Calgon, take me away!

Big Sur is a rugged stretch of California’s central coast between Carmel and San Simeon. Bordered to the east by the Santa Lucia Mountains and the west by the Pacific Ocean, it’s traversed by narrow, 2-lane State Route 1, known for winding turns, seaside cliffs and views of the often-misty coastline. The sparsely populated region has numerous state parks for hiking, camping and beachcombing.

Filmed and Edited: Bevan Percival

The ‘lock down’ has given me some time to finally put some footage together and share it on line. All these scenes were shot over the last 12 months when I was really trying to work out the best way to shoot full holy grail time lapse scenes, some of these started out that way but ended up as shorter sequences when something in my rig failed or something else got in the way.

Filmed and Edited by: Shawn Reeder

Oregon’s Coast is known throughout the world for its majestic rocky coastline, secluded beaches, forested sea stacks and magical vibe. Yet tucked away in the far southern reaches lies a particularly beautiful almost hidden gem, Oregon’s Secret Coast. A little over 2 years ago I made my first trip and instantly fell in love. It kind of reminds me of a mix between Big Sur and New Zealand, two of my favorite meetings of land and ocean.

That trip started a love affair that has had me return 5 times in the last two years, each time getting to know the magic of this land better while also getting to know myself better.
