Timelapse: ‘Mountains Of Northern Norway’ (4K)

Filmed and Edited by: Night Light Films

What makes northern Norway so unique, mystical and fairy-tale like? It is undeniably its mountains. ‘Fjellan’ means ‘the mountain’ or ‘the mountains’ in local dialect. I wanted to pay a tribute to some of the most iconic peaks of this part of the country.

You can find all types of mountains in northern Norway. While some are more like rolling hills, others are jaw-dropping, sharply triangular peaks that rise directly from the bottom of fjords. But what they all have in common is their ability to feed our imagination. People usually see many shapes and figures in them, including animals, soldiers, sleeping giants or even trolls!

This short film consists of a mixture of timelapse and real-time sequences taken over the past 3 years in the Troms area.

Timelapse Travel: ‘Lone Peaks’ Of South America

Filmed and Edited by: Florian Nick

From giant icecaps far south to bone-dry deserts further north – I traveled 20.000 km across Chile, Argentina, Bolivia and Peru for six months and was blown away by the variety of landscapes on this continent.

But one thing I found that all these climate zones have in common are those massive mountains rising high above their lands. May it be the majestic granite walls of Patagonia, perfectly shaped volcanos in the Atacama desert or some of the high alpine peaks of the Peruvian highlands.

Even though it only captures very few of them, this short timelapse film is a tribute to all those lone peaks in South America. There is still so many more to discover and photograph.

Timelapse Travel: ‘Norway’ Nature’s Colors (8K Video)

Filmed and Edited by: Ronald Soethje

“Draw up your travel plan on a large scale – and let yourself be carried away by the colorful hour in detail. The greatest attraction there is is the world – take a look at it!” Kurt Tucholsky

In the months when the hours of sunshine are shortest in the north, shortly before and after the never-ending polar night, Norway shows itself in the most beautiful colors. Whether it’s the sunrises that turn into sunsets or the northern lights that color the sky, it’s far less dreary and gray than we sometimes imagine.

Discover the land of the northern lights with its fjords and mountains in the south, the magical archipelago of Lofoten, the incredibly beautiful Senja and the endless fjords and islands around Tromsø. Recorded with cameras in a resolution of over 8k and finished in HDR (High Dynamic Range / HDR 10). The video looks best on real ultra high definition HDR display.

Timelapse Travel: ‘Saint Petersburg, Russia’ (Video)

St. Petersburg is a Russian port city on the Baltic Sea. It was the imperial capital for 2 centuries, having been founded in 1703 by Peter the Great, subject of the city’s iconic “Bronze Horseman” statue. It remains Russia’s cultural center, with venues such as the Mariinsky Theatre hosting opera and ballet, and the State Russian Museum showcasing Russian art, from Orthodox icon paintings to Kandinsky works.

Timelapse Film: ‘Chasing The Storm III’ (4K Video)

Filmed and Edited by: Matt Hollamon

After some serious debate over this film and whether it would happen or if I should add content from 2021 to beef it up, I came to the conclusion that 2020 deserves it own place in my library. I fell in love with the music from the first sample and knew that it was exactly what I wanted, so it was on from there. The pace is slower and much more deliberate compared to my previous offerings, but it is a fantastic pairing with the footage I collected this year.

Chasing storms as a registered nurse during a global pandemic was a challenge to say the least. 2020 forced me to be adaptable. Safety for my family, friends, coworkers and most importantly my patients, turned into my top priority. I scrapped plans for my annual two week plains chase in May and just chased when I could, usually closer to home. That being said, I still managed to chase 24 or so different days, spanning from March to October. I made it to seven different states through all of it. I missed events like Sublette KS and Arnold NE that I normally would have seen with my own eyes, but at that time, I was where I needed to be. For me personally it seemed like 2020 was the year of the LP and the shelf cloud, not always what I’m looking for, but always beautiful to photograph and to time lapse. I saw my first birthday tornado in March when I turned 50 and two others for the year but didn’t have the chance to photograph any of them. Each of those 24 chase days, whether the day was epic or a bust, brought balance into my life and helped me to reset and be the best I could be in my professional life. So while it was not the year any of us were looking for, it’s the year that was, and still deserves its place. I will always be thankful for the experiences and blessings. This is my fourth season recap, and while content dictates quality to some degree, I feel like I am getting better at this as I go. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it, and thank you for taking the time to look.

Timelapse Walking Tour: ‘Belgrade – Serbia’ (Video)

This video presents the city of Belgrade and the most popular places of Serbian Capital. In this dynamic time-lapse video with ambiental sounds which provides an authentic experience, we follow a loving couple during their walk through the most important historical, cultural and popular places, and enjoy the beautiful landscape of the city.

Belgrade is the capital of the southeast European country of Serbia. Its most significant landmark is the Beogradska Tvrđava, an imposing fortress at the confluence of the Danube and the Sava rivers. The fort is a testament to the city’s strategic importance to the Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, Serbian and Austrian empires, and it’s now the site of several museums as well as Kalemegdan, a vast park.

Timelapse Travel: Night Sky In Arizona (4K Video)

This is a short trailer of the 30+ minutes of timelapse I shot in 2020 at locations in South Dakota, Wyoming and Arizona. It was shot with Nikon D850 cameras in still mode and rendered at 8K resolution. My past features have aired on the DirecTV 4K channel, a few are on Stingray Naturescape on Youtube. The Astrum feature may be available as a download in the future.

SpaceX Starlink satellites are visible in parking orbit right after the Feb 17, 2020 launch in several of the shots. They look like scattered stars that aren’t moving across the sky. Normally satellites will streak across the sky in timelapse..

Timelapse Travel: ‘Sofia – Bulgaria’ (4K Video)

Sofia is the capital of Bulgaria, an amazing county in Eastern Europe and probably one of the most underrated travel destinations in Europe. Sofia is surrounded by mountainsides, such as Vitosha by the southern side, Lyulin by the western side, and the Balkan Mountains by the north, which makes it the third highest European capital after Andorra la Vella and Madrid. It’s an amazing and vibrant city to visit and you can get a very good idea about this place in less than 3 minutes in this time lapse, tilt-shift and drone video. Like everything else, Sofia looks even better in miniature size.

Timelapse Travel: ‘Santa Cruz Mountains’ In Northern California

Filmed and Edited by: Della Huff

In July 2020 we moved to our new home in the Santa Cruz Mountains. We’re lucky to have an extraordinary view to the west, and I find so much inspiration in the changing weather and light that the view affords. I have especially cherished it this year since we have been spending nearly all of our time at home. I created this timelapse reel to capture the beauty and dynamism of the Santa Cruz Mountains, but I also felt that timelapse was an apt medium for capturing this time-bendingly strange year. I hope you enjoy it.

The Santa Cruz Mountains, part of the Pacific Coast Ranges, are a mountain range in central and northern California, United States. They form a ridge down the San Francisco Peninsula, south of San Francisco.
