Views: First ‘Supermoon’ Of 2021 Across The Globe

From Sydney’s Bondi Beach, to Istanbul’s Bosphorus and the mountains of Caracas in Venezuela, the first supermoon of 2021 has been seen across the globe. A supermoon is a name given to a full moon that occurs when the moon is closest to the Earth. According at NASA, this year’s super moon has been called a ‘pink’ super moon, as it appears in April and named after an American plant, pink phlox, that blooms in Spring

Timelapse Views: ‘Skyglow – Wet Mountain Valley’ In Colorado (Video)

Imagine if you could see the Milky Way from your front porch? If you live in the Wet Mountain Valley of Colorado, you can. The valley is home to Westcliffe and Silver Cliff International Dark-Sky Association Dark Sky Communities, where night sky quality is shielded from excessive light pollution through various measures taken by the citizens and the local authorities. While Wet Mountain Valley is known for the spectacular snowy mountains many visit during the day, the views are even more stunning at night.

Timelapse Travel: Night Sky In Arizona (4K Video)

This is a short trailer of the 30+ minutes of timelapse I shot in 2020 at locations in South Dakota, Wyoming and Arizona. It was shot with Nikon D850 cameras in still mode and rendered at 8K resolution. My past features have aired on the DirecTV 4K channel, a few are on Stingray Naturescape on Youtube. The Astrum feature may be available as a download in the future.

SpaceX Starlink satellites are visible in parking orbit right after the Feb 17, 2020 launch in several of the shots. They look like scattered stars that aren’t moving across the sky. Normally satellites will streak across the sky in timelapse..

Observatories European Southern Observatory ESO in Chile timelapse video by Martin Heck 2019

Part two of a series of journeys to the big astronomical observatories of this planet. In this video: The Paranal Observatory and the Atacama Large Millimeter Array – ALMA. With some of the biggest ground-based telescopes on earth, the observatories of the European Southern Observatory in Chile are at the bleeding edge of astronomical research. These incredibly complex machines, operating synchronized and precisely in the very remote and hostile environments of the Atacama Desert and Andes, enable deep views into the universe.

All the sequences were shot in only 4 nights in total, but on two trips in 2017 and 2019.
