Professional deep-sea diver Adrian Corrigall and his wife Megan plan to build their new family home in rural East Sussex almost entirely out of concrete, with construction involving cutting-edge technologies conceived in Switzerland and never used to build a house before. However, the perils of being a pioneer soon become evident, and with both schedule and budget under strain, Adrian is forced to resume work as a diver, taking him away from the project for a month at a time.

Innovative Architecture: ‘Stealth Pavillion’ – An Australian Private Gym Blended Into A Garden
Stealth Pavilion is an architecturally designed private gym which sits suitably disguised in its landscape, concealing its presence through select materiality. Plus Minus Design carefully integrates a multifunction volume into an established heritage-listed garden setting, combining a refined and contemporary approach.
Stealth Pavilion and its location amongst significant listed trees came with its associated challenges, and through a clever approach to concealment, the result combines ingenuity and precision to the architecturally designed private gym which blends into the surrounding landscape.
The brief for the pavilion was for a structure that would house an architecturally designed private home gym and also have the capacity to be adapted to separate guest accommodation as required. After the consideration of a number of locations, the chosen siting was within the drop zone of four of the five listed trees and its surrounding landscape.
Externally, cladding of bronze mirror allows the structure of the architecturally designed private gym to reflect the surrounding foliage and landscape, and seem non-existent to the passer-by while internally the finishes reflect a robust warmth, suitable to its function.

Renovation Architecture: “House Inside A Ruin” In Czechoslovakia (2020)
It was ruin to the bone. All that was left of the original house was a brick envelope with a roof. Together with the building owners, we asked ourselves whether the house had a place to return to. Any attempt at a traditional repair would mean losing the original character of the ruin. Relatively soon, therefore, we rejected a speculative reconstruction of the original state, as well as any other imitations. We proposed to fix the current state of the romantic ruins and enter the house anew. House to house, house inside a ruin.
We proposed to tear down the inner parts of the building and return its original layout with two floors instead of three, as well as the original scale. Related to this is a return to the original division of the facade. Without sentiment and depending on the needs of the layout, we opened other large openings where needed. We have built a new, insulated house into the existing staged ruin, a one that can meet all current energy standards. We reused the structurally sound wooden beams as elements of ceilings and truss replacements. Most of the material remained in place, just rearranged.
