Now, after an extended shutdown amid the Covid-19 pandemic, there are signs that this natural paradise is recovering and, as visitors begin to return, the Thai government and tour operators are keen to avoid the mistakes of the past.

Koh Pak Bia (also spelled Phak Bia) is a small island that belong to the Koh Hong archipelago. Located right between Koh Yao Noi and Krabi coast, it is a popular destination for island-hoppers and day trippers in search of a quiet place to spend a relaxing time. Koh Pak Bia’s situation toward the southern side of Phang Nga Bay makes its surrounding waters more emerald than turquoise, yet snorkelling at short distance from its main beach allows visitors to see a great range of fish species.
The shape of Pak Bia Island is rather peculiar. It features a large circular dome covered with lush foliage, linked to a small rocky crop by a stripe of thick sand. The sand itself, again as a result of the island’s unique location, is not white and powdery as Koh Poda (located some 16km southeast), but is more like small yellowish gravel. Surrounded by other small islands, the scenery is fantastic and gives a real feeling of exclusivity and well-being in the the warm and natural environment of these tropical islands. A few local vendors have fresh drinks and snacks for sale on Koh Pak Bia.

Ko Yao Yai is a Thai island in the Andaman Sea, halfway between Phuket and Krabi. It’s characterized by sandy shores, mangroves, rubber plantations and fishing villages. Beaches include Loh Paret and Loh Jark, the latter with a pier for ferries and long-tail boats. The surrounding waters are rich in coral and dotted with dive sites, like the King Cruiser Wreck near Anemone Reef, and the pinnacles of Shark Point.

Located in West Thailand in the Tenasserim Hills range of Kanchanaburi Province, Erawan National Park is home to one of the most popular falls in the country. Founded in 1975 as Thailand’s 12th National Park, it covers an area of 550 km².
The major attraction of the park is the 7-tiered Erawan Falls with emerald green ponds. There are also several impressive and long caves within the park, some of them deeper inside the park, few of them along the roads around the park. The park and the falls are named after the three-headed white elephant of Hindu mythology. The top tier of the falls is said to resemble an elephant head.
