Walks: ‘Mijas Pueblo’ In Málaga, Spain (4K Video)

Mijas Pueblo is the historical core of the municipality of Mijas, situated in the heart of the Costa del Sol in southwestern Spain. It lies only 30 kilometres from Málaga Airport. It has a varied landscape that goes from the mountains all the way to the sea.

The area of Mijas is mostly mountainous with growing developments along the coast and on the gentler parts of the mountain slopes. The Pasadas and Ojen rivers cross this area, they join to form the Rio Fuengirola which flows into the sea almost on the limits between Fuengirola and Mijas.

The Municipality, one of the largest in the Province of Málaga, with 147 km² is divided into three different urban areas: Mijas Pueblo, conserving the charm of a traditional Andalucian “white village”, Las Lagunas on the coast (the most modern area of Mijas where you can find industrial and commercial areas), and La Cala, a small seaside village in the centre of the 12 kilometres of beaches on the Mijas coast.

Inhabited since ancient times, a small village Mijas was devoted mainly to agriculture and fisheries to the explosion of the tourist boom in the 1950s. Since then, tourism and construction sector have been the engines of local economy, triggering at the same time the population and per capita income, albeit at a high environmental cost. Today it is a multicultural city with a high percentage of residents of foreign origin and a major residential centers of tourism in Andalusia.

The maze of narrow, cobbled streets dotted with white whitewashed houses contrasted by colorful flower pots and flowers that decorate the balconies, is an image that will remain etched in your mind about Mijas Pueblo.

Aerial Views: ‘Mount Olympus – Greece’ (4K)

Mount Olympus is the highest mountain in Greece. It is part of the Olympus massif near the Gulf of Thérmai of the Aegean Sea, located in the Olympus Range on the border between Thessaly and Macedonia, between the regional units of Pieria and Larissa, about 80 km southwest from Thessaloniki.

Olympus is a mythical journey that you must make as life goes on. Do not underestimate it because it can cost you your life. Show respect to the mountain, prepare very well and climb the most mythical mountain that our homeland has.One September morning, I decided to go up the mountain. I put the basic stuff in my backpack, tied my boots and started climbing. 2 hours to the shelter of Spilios Agapitos and another 2 to the plateau of the Muses. This is what I remembered from the last time.In a difficult passage to the cutter, I got stuck. On the one hand I was looking at the saws and I say if I fall I will be back at the starting point after 6 hours of climbing. Passing by some other riders offered to put a hand. Well dude what do you have inside, weighs over 20 pounds. I answer the absolutely necessary. Drones, battery chargers, everything you need to capture the beauty of the mountain.I used up 100% of my biological battery and discovered a hidden one that I did not know existed and had never used. But when I reached the plateau of the muses, the magic of nature was revealed. I flew as high as I could. MAGIC.

Legend says that Olympus was the home of the 12 Olympian gods. The very religious ancient Greeks believed that the world was created by immortal deities. These gods and their actions served as an example to the Greeks and they were also used to explain phenomena the people of that time were not able to explain in another way. The gods were also called upon for help and support in difficult times by way of worshiping, prayers, and offers.

Culture: ‘Guinea-Bissau – A Matriarchy Rules’ (Video)

A matriarchy rules on one of the Bijagos Islands off the coast of Guinea-Bissau. The tribe of the same name lives on Orango, one of the most populated islands in the archipelago. Women dominate public and private life there. This documentary focuses on the women of the Bijagos tribe of Guinea-Bissau. Unlike many women in traditional and modern societies elsewhere, they pick their husbands, propose marriage and own their homes.

In addition to being responsible for raising children, they also act as high-priestesses in animist ceremonies, organize work, guard the keys to the rice stores, lead their families and ensure there are descendants to continue the line. The Bijagos revere women, who are believed to be in charge of the balance between the worlds of the living and the dead. A matriarchy of this kind is unusual, not only for Africa but around the world. Even though this culture has persisted for centuries, aspects of Western lifestyles are starting to gain a foothold. Rising rates of school attendance could contribute to the demise of the community’s traditions. Future generations will determine whether the Bijagos can retain their culture.

Guinea-Bissau is a tropical country on West Africa’s Atlantic coast that’s known for national parks and wildlife. The forested, sparsely populated Bijagós archipelago is a protected biosphere reserve. Its main island, Bubaque, forms part of the Orango Islands National Park, a habitat for saltwater hippos. On the mainland, the capital, Bissau, is a port with Portuguese colonial buildings in its old city center.
