Not far from Stow-on-the-Wold, the village of Naunton sits in a small valley along the river Windrush. Our travelling companion Herbert Evans didn’t have much to say for the place, but we still certainly found it to be a peaceful spot.
Naunton is a village in Gloucestershire, England. It lies on the River Windrush in the Cotswolds, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Stow-on-the-Wold is about 6 miles to the east.
We’re back with our first video of 2022, visiting t he lovely little village of Stanton, just south of Broadway on the western escarpment of the Cotswolds. This is a classic English village with a church packed full of interesting architecture, a brilliant pub and a newer development of houses that show modern house construction can be done sensibly, in the local vernacular.
Hartsop is a small village in the English Lake District. It lies in the Patterdale valley, near Brothers Water, Hayeswater and Kirkstone Pass. It consists of 17th-century grey stone cottages, like so many of its neighbours.
There are some beautiful places in England and Shaftesbury with its famous Gold Hill and Blackmore Vale view has to be one of them. Shaftesbury is in our top 10 Beautiful Places in England and we’ll take you on a walking tour of the town in this video. In addition to the beautiful view at Gold Hill, the small market town has some cute independent shops, a museum charting the history of the town including a special gallery about the Hovis Bread Advert from the 1970s that made it so famous, wonderful walks and the ancient Shaftesbury Abbey ruins built by King Alfred the Great. Adlestrop is a village and civil parish in the valley of the River Evenlode in the Cotswolds about 3 miles east of Stow-on-the-Wold in Gloucestershire, England. The parish is on the county boundary with Oxfordshire. The River Evenlode forms the southwest boundary of the parish.
Built at the height of the wool trade, Merfield House, a spectacular Georgian house stands in 32 acres of land in the pretty village of Rode, between Bath and Frome.
The picturesque village of Rode on Somerset’s eastern border, 10 miles south of Bath and five miles north-east of Frome, is one of a series of ancient wool villages that line the banks of the River Frome. The river meanders along a tree-lined channel to the west of the village, with a historically important crossing-point at Rode Bridge and, over the centuries, it has been the life-blood of the area.
