Helsinki, Finland’s southern capital, sits on a peninsula in the Gulf of Finland. Its central avenue, Mannerheimintie, is flanked by institutions including the National Museum, tracing Finnish history from the Stone Age to the present. Also on Mannerheimintie are the imposing Parliament House and Kiasma, a contemporary art museum. Ornate red-brick Uspenski Cathedral overlooks a harbor.
The City of Brussels is the largest municipality and historical centre of the Brussels-Capital Region, and the capital of Belgium. Besides the strict centre, it also covers the immediate northern outskirts where it borders municipalities in Flanders.
Sweden is a Scandinavian nation with thousands of coastal islands and inland lakes, along with vast boreal forests and glaciated mountains. Its principal cities, eastern capital Stockholm and southwestern Gothenburg and Malmö, are all coastal. Stockholm is built on 14 islands. It has more than 50 bridges, as well as the medieval old town, Gamla Stan, royal palaces and museums such as open-air Skansen.

Denmark is a Scandinavian country comprising the Jutland Peninsula and numerous islands. It’s linked to nearby Sweden via the Öresund bridge. Copenhagen, its capital, is home to royal palaces and colorful Nyhavn harbor, plus the Tivoli amusement park and the iconic “Little Mermaid” statue. If you want to know how the other half lives, take a tour of examples from royal Danish culture, including the Crown Jewels, at Rosenborg Slot, a17th century Renaissance castle located in the centre of the city. The castle was built by King Christian lV, and is surrounded by blooming gardens in the summer time.
For a dose of an alternative way of life, visit Christiania, Copenhagen’s commune of like-minded individuals who have their own law and lifestyle. Christiania is a sanctuary for pensioners, immigrants, artists, the homeless, the unemployed, students, intellectuals and musicians. Christiana is not governed by Copenhagen’s municipality, and there exists a liberal and progressive mindset within its borders. Christiana is relatively safe — there are rules within the community that forbid stealing, violence and firearms — but you should still go with a friend during the day.

First recordings of this old town are from the 10th century. There are several old buildings and of course new quarters. Sneek has about 33.500 inhabitants.
Sneek is a city southwest of Leeuwarden and seat of the former municipality of Sneek in the province of Friesland. As for 2011 it is part of the municipality Súdwest-Fryslân. The city had approximately 33,855 inhabitants in January 2017.
