Cinematic Views: ‘Bergamo – Northern Italy’ (Video)

Bergamo is an Italian city northeast of Milan, in the Lombardy region. Its older upper district, called Città Alta, is characterized by cobblestone streets, encircled by Venetian walls and accessible by funicular. It’s home to the Duomo di Bergamo, the city cathedral. Also here are the Romanesque Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore and the grand Cappella Colleoni, a chapel with 18th-century frescoes by Tiepolo.

Cinematic Views: The ‘Orient Silk Road Express’ In Central Asia (Video)

Filmed and Edited by: Dennis Schmelz

Aboard the Orient Silk Road Express from Ashgabat to Almaty through Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan along the legendary Silk Road trade route in Central Asia. An amazing train journey back in time, across three countries and several Unesco World Heritage sites. I’m still fascinated from the beauty of Bukhara, Khiva or Samarkand. These cities are like a fairy tale of 1001 night. Islam plays an important role, but is lived here in its original and peaceful way. The people are very friendly, obliging and always give you a smile. I have rarely felt so welcome and taken in as I do here. I hope you can feel this spirit in my new short film – Salam Aleikum (سلام عليكم)!

The town is also known for its turn-of-the-20th-century wooden chalets, symbols of Zakopane-style architecture.

New Travel Video: ‘Iceland – The Frozen Kingdom’

Filmed and Edited by: Morten Svane

I shot this in february of 2020 in Iceland, just before the pandemic started. We were on a job, but managed to get some time to shoot a bit for ourselves as well. We had planned 3 days of roadtripping in Iceland after the job, but we got hit by a snowstorm and got trapped in Seyðisfjörður for 3 days. When we finally got out and took a place back to Reykjavik, we only had a bit over 24 hours before we had to head home again. We got really lucky and experienced everything from heavy snowfall at Skógafoss to a beautiful sunset by the coast at Vik. It is not a lie when Icelanders say: “If you don’t like the weather in Iceland, just wait five minutes”.

The voiceover is by Andrea who is Icelandic and helped me find the poem as well. Thank you Andrea! The music is from Artlist and the film was edited and graded in DaVinci Resolve. You can follow me on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/morten.svane/
